Our new NIR 101 Class Hunslets are edging closer to their Q2 2026 arrival, and what better time to share an exclusive preview of the DCC sound package - an exciting taste of what’s to come.

What a bunch of 'Hunnys'!

For the first time in an Accurascale or IRM locomotive, the Hunslet makes use of an ESU-designed speaker. We've used this speaker due to space restrictions and this twin speaker is included in all DC/DCC ready locomotives, as well as DCC sound fitted variants. So, if you want to upgrade to sound later, you just pop the roof off, plug in your sound decoder and off you go!

This, along with our working fan really kicks up the standard and quality of Hunslet to museum-level and part of our drive to move standards ever higher when it comes to our wonderful hobby.

excellent demo. never seen one live so no idea what these sound like but certainly the presentation captures the essence of what if shoud be.

Love the fan, gonna enjoy that. The lighting affects are lovely especially the dimming when switching ends.

The oomph of the diesel is quite nice too, braking is a tad on the weak side?

The track gap in that film though! I suspect it flipped off it they were well misaligned!

A very distinctive sound indeed that carried a long distance - I lived 800 metres from the railway in Marino, Dublin. The demo sounds authentic.

Twice daily at 11:04 and 17:34 it could be clearly heard, manfully pushing the Enterprise out of Connolly through Fairview and Clontarf.

In 1979 I managed to get a run in the cab of 102 Falcon from Dundalk to Connolly thanks to getting hold of a footplate pass. According to my records, the cab window was too dirty to bother with photos.

It's probably my favourite train and I have 3 Hunslets and a rake of Maroon and blue coaches on order.

Can't wait for their arrival.
