Silver fox models, worth it or no?

Thanks for the feedback all, certainly interesting to get some different perspectives and answers!

At the moment I’ll probably put buying a silver fox model on the back burner until I decide what to do (or at least until I get back from holiday next week)

Despite not being 100% accurate livery wise, I’m definitely eyeing up one of their Black and Tan C class models, that or some Orange cement bubbles (or the correct answer which is both let’s be honest)

Well, if the message is clear it will be 18 months or so before the “announcement” or possibly the “delivery”, so I think they will hold their value for a bit of time yet.

I enjoyed making my Black and Tan one.

Haha, I did, so I’ll probably get some cement bubbles and wait for something better to arrive. That method definitely worked with the NIR 101

The Silverfox "C" actually looks well enough. The B101 they do is probably the only one likely to be available for some considerable time, though SSM might still have a few. I don't know what it is about the proportions or cures, but I've yet to see a TRULY convincing B101 model..... maybe IRM will put this to rights some day.

If a Hunslet can sell out - a loco there were only ever three of, which didn't last all that long and which were almost completely confined to one route - there will hopefully be no argument against making a B101 model, even though they were very much "southern" engines - the only time you'd see them on the Midland was the weedspray, and I'm unaware of any heading up the GNR, certainly north of Drogheda anyway.

For now, I'm awaiting the IRM announcement re a "C", and reserving thoughts on a B101 until or unless IRM make an announcement on one at some future stage.
