patrick Posted February 4, 2014 Posted February 4, 2014 (edited) [ATTACH=CONFIG]11811[ Progress on the first 27101 series flat car which will be used with Bell containers. I'm waiting on one eight inch plastistruct channel for the buffer beams. This will also extend the wagons to a more prototypical length. Edited February 4, 2014 by patrick Quote
patrick Posted February 4, 2014 Author Posted February 4, 2014 (edited) I should add that inspiration for this conversion came from hidden-agenda's tutorial on ballast hoppers. Edited February 4, 2014 by patrick Quote
popeye Posted February 8, 2014 Posted February 8, 2014 Very nice Patrick, they look spot on. Good work. Quote
Weshty Posted February 8, 2014 Posted February 8, 2014 That's a simple and elegant solution. Nice one. What buffers did you use Patrick? Quote
jhb171achill Posted February 8, 2014 Posted February 8, 2014 Excellent! Brings back memories...! Quote
patrick Posted February 8, 2014 Author Posted February 8, 2014 The buffers are from Dart castings http://www.dartcastings.co.uk/mjt/2350.php which can also improve the SSM brake van . The brake lever bothers me, it should be heavier and will be replaced. A handy etch with brake gear and rectangular plates would make this conversion so much easier.........and decals of course! Fingers crossed I am working on a fret for the earlier steel floored version, several Prestwins & some 20' containers recently turned up in the wagon shops. Quote
patrick Posted February 17, 2014 Author Posted February 17, 2014 This is the second 4 wheel container flat that I have built. An improved brake lever was fitted and the buffers are at 6 foot centers which in my opinion improve the appearance. Quote
