NIRCLASS80
Just after uploading some photos of these wagons awaiting scrapping in Ballymena. These must be a modelling nightmare due to the differences in every wagon. https://www.flickr.com/photos/nirailfan/
Glenderg
Great photos! Kirley made a few of those. Think it nearly broke him. Something like 64 parts per wagon?
heirflick
never noticed before - are they are the same wagon, showing different sides?
Dunluce Castle
Yes, all of the spoil wagons were built exactly the same, 70 I think we're bought, the unique thing with these wagons is that there is only 1 door and that's on 1 side only. UP6936
Well that explains a lot! I thought there was the hopper type ones and a slab sided one, never new they where different sides of the one thing! Have any of them been preserved? jhb171achill
For the modeller, they were delivered in. Sort of light greyish duck-egg blue, with "U T" in black along the side, and the number. They became so grubby that this colour became 100% obscured by dirt, thus the correct "livery" when working is just a complete covering of muck and brake-dust weathering! I don't believe any were ever repainted.
leslie10646
PROVINCIAL WAGONS SPOIL WAGON KIT Subject to Special Delivery working next Wednesday morning, I'll have the pre-production version of my Spoil wagon on view at Bangor on 12/13 April. Unlike the 64 parts in Kirley's version, mentioned by Glenderg above, the kit will have about 20 parts - four sides, a chassis, buffers couplings etc - not quite Airfix kit ease, but close! Leslie PS Can't resist this - with this post, I become a Senior Member! Am I the senior member at nearly 68 years? No comments from the Police Commissioner, please! Know who I mean, David?
