Flying Scotsman 4472 Posted April 4, 2014 Posted April 4, 2014 Someone once told me that the blackbird leaked fuel while sitting on the tarmack. When in flight she swelled with the heat from the friction of passing through the atomsphere. I don't know if its true or not but it sounds good. Great looking models George. Quote

BosKonay Posted April 4, 2014 Posted April 4, 2014 25,000 meters cruising at 3500kph for a plane built in the sixties! If anything highlights how 'real' modern engineering isn't half as exciting. Quote
Broithe Posted April 4, 2014 Posted April 4, 2014 Lovely model of a great plane. If anything highlights how 'real' modern engineering isn't half as exciting. Few things will ever look as futuristic as a Hustler - getting on for 60 years old... [video=youtube;qx-uZZVc0dE] Quote
Weshty Posted April 4, 2014 Posted April 4, 2014 Love the "black, but not black" finish george - top stuff as always Took the words out of my mouth. Off-black and multitones of same to emphasise shading and detail. Choice. Quote
Shinkansen Posted April 4, 2014 Posted April 4, 2014 Nice work George, I'll echo that about the colour... the black that isn't black! Amazing realism. One of my all time favourite aircraft. Saw it sister the A12 on display once, Cold War technology at its finest. Tom Quote
Georgeconna Posted April 4, 2014 Author Posted April 4, 2014 Cheers Lads, This nearly went in the bin as had a couple of mishaps with the finish, Not 100% happy with it but shes done. As a pilot said about the Blackbird, you travel fast but do everything slow. Some great books out the on the BB, Paul Crickmore is one for instance. http://www.goodreads.com/author/show/26626.Paul_Crickmore B-58, Say no more, Must dig out the1.48 one I have in storage!!
