I'm really happy you got to see their loco 102 also. Do you know anything more about this company, as in what they are hauling these days. They were one of the first private operators in Finland, and I know prior to the war that they had been approved (or were close to approval) for cross border mineral flows between Finland and Russia, across one of the more northerly freight only rail crossings. I believe they purchased 6 locomotives like the 102 to.service this flow. Edited February 26 by dave182 Quote

Their website is an interesting read https://www.fenniarail.fi/en/kalusto, and appears to be doing a lot of timber work. One of the Dr18s derailed in Tampere somewhat recently (track spread) so they seem to be expanding operations around. Makes a change to a constant stream of VR traffic! Quote

Railer Posted May 14 Posted May 14 Not wanting to derail this thread but how is set 22002 now disbanded? Wasn't this set part of the ETCS testing along with 22001. Quote
hurricanemk1c Posted May 14 Posted May 14 1 hour ago, Railer said: Not wanting to derail this thread but how is set 22002 now disbanded? Wasn't this set part of the ETCS testing along with 22001. Not for a long time. 22001 was the test bed for IEHS and was semi-permanently formed for a good while with 22002 as a "6" ICR. When IEHS was dropped, 22001 became the test bed for ETCS but was done in a way that the equipment could be swapped with standard equipment, thus only withdrawing the set when required. 22002 returned to being a 3 ICR and part of the usual fleet with no restrictions. With 22039's incident in Westport, it was decided to swap 22202 with 22139 to retain a 6 ICR with NIR equipment, and reallocate the centre car from 22002 to form another 4 ICR. 1 Quote
hurricanemk1c Posted May 14 Posted May 14 At the beginning of March, I visited the Netherlands for a concert in Haarlem (Unleash the Archers for those interested). thewanderer Posted Friday at 23:57 Author Posted Friday at 23:57 This weeks updates include: Wednesday 14th May 2025: Photos from Nenagh, Limerick and Ennis. Thursday 15th May 2025: A late afternoon trip around on the South Western Commuter line between Park West and Hazelhatch observing the start of the evening peak. Also earlier in the day the 1005 Ballina - North Wall was captured at the Phoenix Park Tunnel. Friday 16th May 2025: The 2nd movement of 2700's for scrapping, which included the hybrid set 2609 + 2716 from Cork to Inchicore operated today running as a 1240 Cork to Inchicore. 082 had been sent down from Inchicore on Thursday evening to work the movement back up. Loco 234 which was failed in Cork was also added to the consist at late notice to trip it back to Inchicore. With a senior FTS person onboard to jockey the unusual movement the opportunity was also taken to multi 234 and 082 to conduct some fault finding on 234 for the trip to Dublin. With 5650hp between the 2 locos I imagine getting up to the 60mph limit for the movement was effortless!
