Also, an MK3 transfer took place between Dublin (Inchicore) and Limerick yesterday, for preservation at the West Clare Railway. GM 085 was in charge:

Evening all,

215 and MKIV Set 4007 finally returned to Inchicore Works this evening after their weekend visit to Limerick works to replace a bogie on Standard End carriage 4115. The vehicle suffered a seized axle on the 0700 Heuston - Cork last Thursday.

Picture of it passing Kishyquirk near Killonan Jct. by "Enniscorthy Up Starter" and I videoed it passing through Portarlington as darkness fell.

Some very atmospheric pics. Liked the motion blur shots too, especially the 201 streak. If only there had been somebody with your photographic skills out there 30 or 40 years ago recording rail scenes when there were interesting looking trains operating on Irish rails instead of wall to wall 22k buses. You must have a very long reach lens or do you crop those long shots?

No crops in those latest shots.

I have a 70-300mm lens for the long ones. All of the ones in Heuston were taken with a 18-105mm lens, except picture 182 which was taken with the 10-24mm lens.

You can click the "i" to show the exif data on the camera.

Thanks. The 18-105 is such a versatile and light lens. We just need to find a suitable 'tardis' and send you back to 1965 for a few days to photograph real trains in colour. :) Cheers

Afternoon all,

This morning there was an emergency exercise at Longford Station involving Iarnrod Eireann and the Emergency Services. The scenario was a train striking a car and a number of passengers on board the train were injured, some seriously.

There have also been a number of other updates to the website over the last few days, including several 2005 galleries.

- November 2014 updated with Sligo line images.

- The Southern Electric Groups farewell to the Southern MK1 EMU with the "Sussex Slammer" railtour on 19th November 2005.

- October 2005 gallery which features scenes around Dublin, Killarney and Rathmore plus Beet Trains on the Limerick Jct. - Waterford Line.

- The I.T.G. Plan C Railtour from Dublin to Ballina on the 8th October 2005.

All of these updates can be accessed on the home page at "Latest Gallery updates and News" Click http://www.thewandererphotos.com

Enjoy,

The Wanderer.
