WRENNEIRE Posted April 19, 2012 Posted April 19, 2012 (edited) Decided to convert to DCC Had a couple of issues with the old layout which I fixed first Trapdoor entry was never succesfull where it was, so I moved it to the centre of the opening I think the current Mrs Bracken must have left her hoover there when she was cleaning the attic for me! Couple of pics from the old layout Trapdoor in closed position Underneath shot Basically just brought the power via the old telephone cable and wired it to the track on the trapdoor The small piece of timber on the left hand lip is why the trapdoor looks out of line in the first shot. The usual thing is to have the hinges mounted just above the board surface - see the blocks in the picture - this allows the track by the hinges to rise without clashing with the fixed track. The track is cut on the break-line where the door joins the fixed top. A picture of the top of the door when it's open would explain it... If the Americans want to speak English then they should have to pay a licence fee, and pass a test - otherwise it's Navaho, or something like that, for them... Just wait until I take over. The lifting bridge is quite do-able - but the slightly raised hinges are an important feature for a successful device. Quote
