$199 is at this point €178. Good value, though it will inevitably climb, and gawd knows what the P & P might be!

For anyone modelling the NCC or UTA in the 1960s, those carriages are spot on (though nothing remotely like them ever ran on CIE).

The first will probably set you back EUR40 for postage and the clever dicks in Irish customs will want a percentage as there is no free import allowance like in the US. There they won't even bother with anything less than $200. Be aware the item is likely the US version with a 120V AC adapter and plug unless it's going to share with an existing layout with three pin plug on 240v AC in.

The second doesn't post to UK and likely not Ireland but you could enquire.

My understanding is that similar to the USA there is no import duty in the EU on model trains. However, in the EU VAT at the prevailing rate may be applied in the country of importation. The figure on which VAT is calculated is inclusive of the cost of the goods, shipping and insurance.

Cost of postage to Europe from the US is expensive, EG I returned a J15 to OO Works and postage was almost USD 60.00 Postage the other way was GBP 15.00. I would also note that Irish postal rates are quite expensive.

An item this size is more likely to be detected by customs than a small package sent by Airmail.

I sometimes use the E-Bay Global Shipping programme for items from the States this avoids the cost and delay associated with customs clearance.
