snapper
I was wondering is anybody has come across a system that shows you the actual position of the point other than looking at the switches? I am currently planning a layout and I will have four points that are slightly above eye level making it hard to tell what way they are set. While the layout will be DCC for trains, I am planning a conventional motor and switches for the points.
wiggy
Not sure if this is what you are looking for. Not used this system my self but do use heathcote. Give them a ring and speak to Clive.(he's the only one that will answer anyway) very helpful. http://www.heathcote-electronics.co.uk/PtIndicr.htm#POINT%20INDICATOR-STANDARD Wiggy.

WRENNEIRE
If you are using Peco points there are additional switches available that can indicate the point direction I will dig up a couple of pics later

Mayner
Stall type point motors like the Tortoise are the simplest, instant detection when you wire a LED into the circuit between swich and motor.
irishthump
Stall type point motors like the Tortoise are the simplest, instant detection when you wire a LED into the circuit between swich and motor. SEEP point motors also have a built in switch which can be used for LEDs. I don't use them for point indications but I have LED signals that are connected to them. ger711
As some of the Point Motors already have the connections for LED's you could knock up something like this
Kirley
Like Snapper I need point indicators on my Control Board especially for my storage sections which will not be visible from my control point. I have looked at Wiggy’s suggestion of using Heathcote Points Indicators but they are £17 each covering only 4 points. Has anyone used them or would recommend other methods. I am using Peco points driven by DC with approx 30 points on the layout to date.
