  1. Heres a couple I did myself, Used Revell Satin 364, Decals are Guaranteed Irish from Studio Scale Models .
  2. And heres the Second Installment, bit more done and the track bed has been laid and settled. Pond dug and infill in the inclines and the over/under bridge as ready to be poured.
  3. Not Strickly an Irish layout but it is in Ireland so hopefully it will fit in. Maybe some T&D or Blackrock and Passage G Scale will come along some time soon!! I started this with my Dad last year and was at it on and off. It had a long gestation time with the Garden hose being contorted into some impossible and over ambitious track plans so in the end we chose a simple dog bone with one end flipped over if you get my drift. At first we will be using Isle of Man Rolling stock from Accucraft until some Irish stuff come along!!! Heres a few pics of progress over the last year, after the plan was laid out we got soap stones and set these proud of the soil so it is easier to strim and cut the grass around the trak without damaging it, Track is all Peco, of course the ground undulates so give it a nice feel as it goes along disappearing in some cases. We will have a pond and bridge and deep cutting. Tracking layout should begin withing the next week or two. Heres the 1st set of pics.
  4. This came along half built and unpainted so I finished it off, A monster of a kit it is but impressive when finisihed...
  5. That looks more like a Dc-8 than a 707, of course EI never flew 8s which were a far better looking aeroplane.
  6. Yeah I heard about the Swiss Venoms, What a sad sight from when they used to be bombing about the sky only a few years ago
  7. If you can send me a Poster or flyers I would be happy to stick them up in Marks Models shop in Cork for you. Regards George
  8. Given the year it was I had to do one of these as well. This is the old tool Airfix Lanc and will most likely be my last given the newer tooling is out.
  9. Great to see a aviation section...The flight fest influence perhaps. This is the nice new tooling from Airfix, Went together well, one of the few kits I did this year so far/7q. Next one will be in IAC colours.
  10. Decoders have arrived into Ireland from what I have been told, Packaging has to be sorted out as they don't fit into the Current MM Chip blister pack and then they will be on the Shelves very very soon.
  11. Saturday the 23rd of Feb. If anyones around this Saturday a chap will be giving a demo on how to make moulds and how to cast your own parts and the different resins available, Denis uses car parts as examples but a handy lesson if you don't know how. Its free as well. This was first given last year and was very interesting. Kick off is at 1845hrs, Space is tight in the shop as we mostly have about 15-20 people at the gatherings. The meetings usually focuses on plastic kit modelling so if anyones in Cork is interested do pop by on the normlly on the last Saturday of each month, Bar December / Holiday leave / Personal reasons. Check Marks Models Cork on Facebook/ Irishscalemodeller.com for info. tks George
  12. Marks Models had the Probox in stock till fairly recently, Price E119.99, You can read back CVs etc with that unit. They also have the new decoder in as well. Cheers George.
  13. If your around Dublin drop it into Jim in Marks Models, Hawkins St and he should be able to sort you out as he has spares for all the MM models. tks G
  14. I came Across a Program on BBC 4 Last Monday Night (I know its late telling ye now), It was pretty well done and about Narrow Gauge Railway in Wales and how people got together to Rescue some of them, There was some Excellent cine footage of NG railways back in the 50/60's along with industrial steam. It was repeated again on BBC 3 at 9pm Wednesday pm. Review blurb by:Patrick Mulkern This charming film shows how a band of volunteers preserved derelict narrow-gauge railways and dinky Thomas-like steam engines. A lot of their labours in the 1950s to 70s were captured on remarkable colour cinefilm. There’s the story of the Reverend Teddy Boston who bought a clapped-out engine called Pixie and built the Cadeby Light Railway in his rectory garden. Even more ambitious were two projects in north Wales: the Talyllyn railway that used to serve a slate quarry, and the Ffestiniog, whose restoration required a new tunnel through 271 metres of granite. Fittingly, Jenny Agutter, forever associated with The Railway Children, is the narrator. About this programme Part one of two. The story of the visionaries who rescued some of the narrow gauge railways that once served Britain's key industries, including its mines, quarries, factories and docks. Home movies reveal how volunteers set to work to bring the lines and steam engines back to life after they disappeared in the years following the Second World War. Narrated by Jenny Agutter. Next Mondays is about Standard Gauge railways and preservation featuring the Severn vally railway and KVR Railway. Watch out for it as programs on BBC4 tend to get repeated, it is an hour well spent unlike the IR tripe some time back. Heres the Link for more info: http://www.bbc.co.uk/bbcfour/collections/p01277qd/steam-railways G
  15. Great stuff Des, I'll be on for 13 as I need to do a rake for a chap!! Keep us posted when there ready to order. G
  16. Had a little Chat with Des today and we discussed the possibility of having a weekday evening with him where he shows how easy it is to tackle some of his kits in his range along with Soldering Tips. Also They will be available to pick up on the day. This will be held in Cork City. I normally have a Modelling evening in Marks Models Cork the last Sat of each Month (except Dec) but I hope that this would generate large interest so the shop would be out for doing the display, obviously numbers pending. If a room was booked then I reckon it would be about a E5 each to attend. We will be looking at getting a camera and Audio Visual Display for the Demo. The E5 will be to cover the Room cost only. This will be happening in the new year once SSM and myself has settled the details. Check out this site on : http://www.studio-scale-models.com/ If anyone is interested please PM me so I can do up a list of numbers. Tks George

  18. Got given a copy of Railway Modeller off of a chap on Sunday and thought it might make you guys chuckle, Take heed young men G
  19. Trains are most certainly popular but most lads have them firmly set down in house and not for exhibiting, we had invited a club and a few individuals with layouts but they were not available. Maybe next year as we want to have more on show than on sale. From what I gather the Midlands lands might be up for a trip down south next time and hopefully given the interest I kinda hope to re kindle some interest in setting up a Club or such with some like minded folks so fingers crossed. The previous attempt fizzled out for various reasons which was a pity. I might be able to cobble together something if I get a few moments to myself hopefully Cheers George.
  20. Rumours are that Gerry's wife may be inside it!!
  21. Thanks for the positive comments guys, I can say that it went down fantastically well on leeside and even got a mention in that holy grail called the Evening Echo today complete with piccys as per below, my Airfix concorde was a lucky choice from the fab models there along with Paul Goodes Panther Tank. The whole idea was to have a fair to provide some seed cash for a better slant on exhibition rather than trade next year as a lot of people cleared there stash's they may not be there next time. However as you know Cork has no model railway club at the moment (that needs to be resolved) so bringing in layouts cost a bit of cash and thats if you can get them as not everyone is available on the given weekend. Once the panel sit down to decide on next years date which will be shortly we will announce the info and send out invites again to one and all and hopefully a few more layouts will appear. Also I could not of done this without of all the support of all the exhibitors and family that helped out during the day so a big thanks to all that helped during the day. Des, you were missed this time and I hope the head was not too sore after the weekend. Next year Des. cheers George
