  1. Thanks. Don't have a Lokprogrammer and thought it might be something I could set with CVs on my controller.
  2. Agreed, a great video. Did you say you did something special to get the red lights both showing at cab and bonnet ends for parking? 8118
  3. Yep. A runner, a modeller and a wanabe collector.
  4. Noel, What CV do you change to turn down the brightness? TIA. 8118
  5. Yes, that's my concern too. Unfortunately, informing everyone that there is a model railway collection at this address. Could all of the information be captured in just a barcode?
  6. Paddy, The standards you set and the models you delivered make me very PROUD to tell anyone who asks that my interest in model trains is Irish and only Irish. Returning to the hobby was easy because your models were available and I have enjoyed every minute of it. Now looking forward to a whole new era. So, I'm saying thank you for that and for everything you've done for the Irish model railway scene.
  7. Well look at that! You have it. It was misplaced about 30 years ago by Just. He was the insurance agent, I think from Cork. His full name was Justin Casey.
  8. Many thanks for the 2 updates and for taking the time. I'd be interested to know of any feedback from the Loksound IO Group. For what it's worth this is the sequence I did things and the values I used for lowering the volume on the LocSound V4.0 decoder CV31 =16 CV32 =1 Master Volume Control CV63 = 35 (this certainly lowered the volume for everything) Engine sound on/off CV259 = 50 (lowers the engine running sound a little more) High pitched airhorn CV275 =70 (lowers the airhorn sound a little more) The CV are as given on p9 of the LocSound V4.0 Instruction Manual Murphy Models (Class 071 /111) The values I used are trial and error to get a volume level that I was comfortable with. Works great.
  9. Yes Broithe, a well know fault with children - no function keys for volume control and no on/off switch.
  10. No need to apologise. Cab light was steady and all other lights were alternating on and off as one unit. Like I said it was happening so the hardware must be in place and perhaps it is a CVs matter to activate it. If it could then be mapped to a function key that would make for easy operation. Maybe it's just a matter of editing the CV on the outputs you mention. Thanks again. Maybe some day. 8118
  11. Thanks Noel. Just changed the cab CV on a 141 and it works magic. Thanks for sharing.
  12. This is a single cab loco, so if I choose forward on my controller will the hood lead out or the cab lead out?
  13. Given the way that these locos were operated is there any merit in posting a note explaining if the model will come wired/programmed to operate hood forward or cab forward? And for DCC users would there be any instructions on how to set the correct CV to change? Or does it matter?
  14. Thanks Murphaph, The reason I asked again was the alternating state does happen which suggests to me that the hard wiring is already in place (don't know if that's by accident or design) and that the alternating is a software matter. I thought that a single bit in a CV or a combination of bits in CVs would solve that problem and that was why I originally asked if there is a CVs fix. When it first happened I thought I was in Yard Mode as flashing lights and reduced speed seemed like a natural combination. I did find a listing of CVs on the Internet but found them a bit confusing and there was no indication of what some of the byte values did. I gave up when I saw that blocks of CVs were reserved for the manufacturer. What might be lost in there. The good thing is that the lights on the 071 are all steady now. Do other decoders support alternating lights? 8118
  15. All good now. I did a second reset and re-entered the edited CV values and all worked as it should with lower volumes, lights and all. So, thanks Noel, Irishrailwayman and Irishthump for advise. Much appreciated. Still wondering if it is possible to program the alternating on/off (flashing) light as a function. 8118
  16. Reset all done OK, but now no headlights, sidelights or taillights when forward cab is selected. I think I need a lie-down But getting back to the flashing lights. That looks like a nice feature typical of American railroads. Could be used here for level crossing or on-street layout or in a yard. Is it possible to program it? 8118
  17. Thanks Noel and Irishthump. Since posting I have wondered if I changed CV31 & CV32 back to the defaults would that fix it. Problem is I don't know what the defaults were. Anyone able to help? TIA. Otherwise is a reset. 8118
  18. Has anyone a CVs fix for headlights and sidelights alternating on/off (i.e., flashing) after lowering CVs for engine sound and airhorn? Want to revert to the standard steady lights. Chip is MM0055, loco is MM071 and controller is PowerCab? Trying to avoid the CV 8 solution. Many thanks in advance. 8118
  19. Very nice railway scenes, operational activity and video work. Always enjoy them. Thanks for posting.
  20. Easy enough in the real world. No 1 cab has the Murphy Models plate and the short handrail.
  21. Copied the photo below into this thread so as not to hijack the 121 sound chip discussion. It's a super photo that shows the Murphy Models plate and thanks to DiveController for posting it. I understand that in the real world the Murphy Models plate is at the No 1 cab end. In the DCC world is that the forward cab, or the reverse cab, or does it matter? TIA 8118
  22. Thanks Controller. That's what I thought but I believed it a bit low. A real case of Mind the Gap. So, 3ft top of rail to top of platform and another foot to underside of sleeper level. Now, if I could only find out what that pole on the platform is. 8118
  23. Thanks Controller. I've no issue with the keyword search. Always seems to work fine for me and it returned loads of hits when I searched that time. It just didn't find what I was looking for, simply because it wasn't there. Any info on the main questions of my posting? 8118
  24. I found it. It wasn't on this forum it was in the current IRRS Journal. It's a 1948 photo taken at the Boston Sidings south of Westland Row station (photo © J. McCarthy Robbins – IRRS collection), Vol. 29. June 2020. No. 202, p65 and I have this crop from it. Would appreciate any information about the raised platform, particularly its height. Also, were there any ties to the supporting frames at ground level – longitudinally or horizontally. Was there any kind of ‘foundation’ that the posts or step stringers sat on? At walkway level, there is a pole left of post 3. What’s that? Many thanks in advance. 8118
  25. That cattle wagon special looks the business and fits perfectly into the layout. Master modelling of Leslie's kits and I'm sure many will be studying them in detail when assembling their own. Thanks for creating Glover's workbench and for sharing so much modelling. Informative, entertaining and high standards for the rest of us to aspire to. Will keep you in our thoughts.
