  1. Ex NCC today, 6 July 1968 , University 4 at 2.30pm. June 1968, 53 near Ballymena. 1955CA Portrush 97.
  2. The Magnesite wagons redundant after the closure of Ballinacourty were transferred to the S&DJR and here we have a couple of views of 036 at Glengarriff and on the Drowes River Bridge with one of the first trains.
  3. Dundalk Works yard Ca 1955 151, MAK diesel. Dundalk station VS 206 on a Dublin bound service. CA 1955-7
  4. Millstreet 5 June 1961. Ballaghaderreen 8 June 1961. Ennis 7 June 1961.
  5. Newport, Isle of Wight, high tide on the River Medina just north of the viaduct on the Isle of Wight Central railway lines to Ryde and Sandown is the location. I would think that the vessels are mainly individually owned by small business's or by Crouchers Ltd .
  6. I came across these 2 negatives recently, I've no recollection where they came from but on scanning them they are quite interesting. The 2 ships 'Carrowdene' & 'Clarecastle' were part of the Guinness fleet and are loading barrels for export at or just down river of the Custom House quay in Dublin. The small barge "Seapoint" was used to transfer barrels from the St James Brewery quay near Heuston down the River Liffey, sailing under all the bridges to where sea-going ships could berth.
  7. 8 June 1961 Banagher branch, Bord na Mona Xing.2 views of the Special at Banagher same day.
  8. The ships in Post 1 (1 August 2021) photos 5 and 6 are Isle of Man Steam Packet co. vessels at Douglas, Isle of Man.
  9. Mallow 163, 16 August 1994. Tralee 176 + 145 and probably same pair later at Portlaoise 16 August 1994.
  10. I think possibly that when the vans were first built they were given a lower black band as there wasn't a visible underframe to match up with the Cravens etc which had black underframes so giving some livery uniformity to a train set. When they were rebuilt for the Mark 2's which didn't have a visible underframe, the lower black line was left off so that again the train set livery had some uniformity.
  11. I had a weekend in North Wales a fortnight ago, the Tallylyn had an 'Anything goes' Weekend with 4 locos in steam and various diesels also working trains. An all day rover cost £22. The Ffestiniog and Welsh Highland though on the Sunday was a bit disappointing with very few trains. One working to Blaenau and 2 to Tan-y-Blwch . The Welsh Highland had one return working Porthmadog - Beddgelert and one return Caernarvon- Beddgelert which didn't connect. £100 for 2 people Portmadog-Beddgelert!. The weekday service is only marginally better - even in August. The Porthmadog Premier Inn is now open. I did however acquire a few 009 items for my roundy-roundy in the shop and also video'd the new Garratt 130.
  12. This Album on Youtube has some interesting photos of the Station buildings etc https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=FzuuAzTAcB4
  13. Kingscourt 3 June 1961 GNRI 132 on Special. Donegal Town CA 1950's 2 views of wagons.
  14. On balance, I am changing the date to 19 December 1959 the date of the last train IRRS special. I have several Roy Dennison slides as he was on the train and also have 150 odd of his negatives so this is probably one of his as well. Railcar was 609. Thanks everyone for clarifying the date.
  15. It may be December 1960 as there are faint marks on the negative which could be CIE on the buffer beam and the CIE lettering doesn't show up so well on other locos so stencilled.
  16. A couple of (hopefully) inspiring views. 2 August 1967 & 1964. Looks like a portable grain or possibly beet loader on the first view.
  17. County Donegal Railways Railcar 16 Interior views 3 July 1959. Belfast York Road ex IR 224 16 May 1988.
  18. Here is a negative , unfortunately with a large fault but the faulty bit is interesting in that it is of wagon No 2 which is supposed to be an ex CVR red van but looks very similar to No 6 an ex CVBT Oldbury 1984 built wagon. The ex CVR red vans were Metropolitan C&W from 1887. Any ideas Jim or Andy?
  19. Navan, 22 July 1990 132 + 134 , 2 views. Claremorris 16 April 2000, 212 on log mts stabled in the former Ballinrobe branch platform.
  20. This a recently acquired negative, not brilliant quality and no information. Ideas anyone? I am thinking West Clare but maybe an import from one of the earlier closed lines. There is what looks like a D on the LH of the side but I think that's a red herring (literally not physically!) There is what could be the faint outline of a CIE snail, upper right middle pannel.
  21. Dublin Harcourt Street, D14 63 27 June 1950. Broad & Narrow at Guiness Brewer 27 June 1950, 2 views.
  22. These are enlargements from 2 negs which havn't been uploaded to flickr yet, of an un-rebuilt van on a Tralee train at Killarney 16 August 1994. The van has the bottom black line so possible that the van or some vans weren't fully re-painted when rebuilt
  23. 4601 at Limerick Junction June 2001 , not much help with the lettering but some interesting weathering etc.
  24. 4602 (the van in your lower view) in June 2001 at Limerick Junction. This is the other side unfortunately but look at the left hand end of the body. At that date the orange, black and lining were carried around the edge onto the van end but only on the left hand side.
  25. Dublin Connolly 124 11 May 1990 & 131 May 1988. Limerick Junction 129 12 May 1990.
