  7. Bachmann still do commissions but it is extremely unlikely that someone / shop etc will come forward with the necessary finance to do any Irish prototypes. The most recent one I think was the Caledonian 812 0-6-0 for Rails of Sheffield and they have also been commissioned by TMC to produce an NER G5 0-4-4T.
  8. Ennis , West Clare 6C leaves on the down daily goods ca 1954. Belfast York Road, NCC 14 22June1937. NCC Coleraine WT 4 , Derry-Portrush 28 June 1952

  10. Rumbling dis-content on the S&DJR! In the 1960's the S&DJR management were intent on sticking with steam power and had picked up ex GNRI 205 on withdrawal by NIR. The loco was a favourite of the then Loco Superintendent and was restored to its GNRI livery and properly maintained. A few years later he learnt that NIR had withdrawn UG 0-6-0 49 ex GNR 149 and accordingly, as mechanically he thought it shared many features with the 4-4-0, he persuaded the Board to acquire it too rather than invest in more expensive new diesels. Hurriedly placed into service it soon became apparent that 49 or 9 on the S&DJR was basically past it, however increasing traffic and some difficulty in hiring further CIE diesels meant that it had to soldier on. S&D Loco crews were becoming increasingly dis-contented with having to continue with steam, especially when comparing their lot with colleagues on the diesels and No. 9 bore the brunt of their disenchantment. The writing for steam was on the wall and here we have No 9 paused whilst shunting the local trip, sharing a brew with their luckier mates on A3r.
  11. I 'dropped' 1 there Jim it should read 15 not 5! I had it right on the flickr caption though.
  12. Yes I too would go for A or E. Unfortunately I am too committed to ditch Peco code 100 and start again.
  13. There's been some discussion of Rail Tour fares over here in the 'Centre of Britain' and elsewhere with prices into hundreds of pounds in some cases. Whilst looking for a white marker pen (no luck) I came across this leaflet for a Railtour 150 which ran on Summer Saturdays in 1975 to celebrate the 150th Anniversary of the opening of the Stockton & Darlington Railway. 146 miles for 5 hours of travel for £1-50 (kids 75P)! A bargain but unfortunately now I don't remember much about the trip nor did I have a camera, just probably one or two bottles of Newcastle Broon Ale.
  14. Dublin Connolly 23 July 1990 186. Londonderry & Lough Swilly, 12 and 15 outside Letterkenny shed ca 1952, again a poor neg with faults and slightly out of focus in parts!
  15. I have acquired a few more narrow gauge negatives, not brilliant quality and with faults but I think they are quite interesting. Date for these 2 views at Lahinch featuring ex T&D 6T and 7 C must be between 1953 and 1956.
  16. Dundalk Works scrap line AL 58 22 October 1960. Portadown shed 1962.
  17. For UK Modellers the Ballast wagons are sold out on the UK site , are you able to transfer any over?
  18. Thurles 2 June 1958. Hill of Howth Tramway 15 March 1959 , 4 at Howth station and again at the Summit. Looks as if the photographer was the sole passenger!
  19. Ex SLNCR "Lough Erne" shunts Belfast Docks 25 May 1964. Londonderry Waterside, probably No 4 August 1969, and No 4 on the Coleraine Turntable , June 1969.
