Here is an interesting negative of a train on the Cork City Railway 4 November 1960. I reckon that its probably been taken from the Brake Van judging by the chap with the trolley, as I think human nature being what it is he's looking for the end of the train passing so he can get over the road. He could however be wondering 'Who's that nosey so-and-so on the engine taking photos of me' I think he also has a small child perched on the 'trolley' . Did they have wheelie luggage then? Never seen that modelled before!

Working through some more closed station views today. These 5 are all ex Cavan & Leitrim Railway 19 April 1968. First one Ballinamore; this had me puzzled for a while as post closure the owner had moved a door and also bricked in the glazed area. All to no avail as I think this may now under the bypass. Next Drumshanbo where the bypass now runs along the trackbed but most of the buildings including the water tower are still there. The washing line however is probably another 'fatality'. Next is a former road crossing, I think this is on the Arigna Extension as there are gate posts on the railway. Probably the R285 road and the cottage is buried in the undergrowth on Google Earth. EDIT The cottage is Arigna station with the extension to the mines crossing the road; thanks Andy! The last two are Dromod and I think Kiltubrid.

I have translated this into Geordie non-predictive text as ' Foynes line is to be relaid and rebuilt' or have I missed something from earlier posts(s).

West Clare Rly, 3 November 1960, Ennis F503 on a wet day, note the cattle wagon at the head of the train. 2 views at Newry Edward Street 24 August 1962. Note on the second view the reference to the Greenore bus service which replaced the old D&NGR trains and also mention of the long gone service to Armagh.

A couple more L&LSR views. Manorcunningham station 20 April 1953 HC Casserley. The north end of Letterkenny taken from up a signal ca1952. I have acquired a number of negatives taken by this photographer; interesting images but unfortunately with a somewhat faulty camera which has the image properly focussed on the right hand side of the negative only.
