  1. North & East Wall video uploaded today in 5 x 3 minute parts from June 2001 featuring 223 assembling a Cork liner which includes some fertiliser wagons, loads of containers. First section is: https://www.flickr.com/photos/irishswissernie/47174803542/in/dateposted-public/ A few more photos also uploaded. Ernie
  2. https://www.purcellauctioneers.ie/catalogue/8F94772A0A3BA77D096E6240F0A8640E/81B29AB6FA187A02A829C1899B734425/specialist-auction-of-irish-interest-books-with-dedicated-se/ Some interesting items there; I wonder whose collection this was. Ernie
  3. On my visits to Ireland 2000 to 2005 bogie wagons (loaded or unloaded) on freight trains were always marshalled next to the loco with any 4 wheel wagons at the rear of the train. Ernie
  4. The quality of the video's has turned out a bit better than I thought but still nowhere near as good as the 4k stuff I'm now doing. Unfortunately the Handycams I used between 2009 and 2016 although 'handy' in that you could keep them in your pocket have proved to be a bit of a disaster although this could be because of the quality of the 4K material colouring my judgment slightly. I am now taking time out to re-visit some of the preserved railways to film them in 4K; Keighley & Worth Valley and Severn Valley Gala's in March for a start. Actually doing a bit of modelling at the moment, constructing a long girder bridge to hide the exit at the left hand end of Glengarriff. Some interesting negs/slides arrived and hopefully more in pipeline , this one for starters! https://www.flickr.com/photos/irishswissernie/32215264837/in/dateposted-public/ Courtmacsherry, ARGADEEN 1939 ERnie
  5. There are now 27 Irish videos from 2000-2005 uploaded. All are in this album https://www.flickr.com/photos/irishswissernie/albums/72157706536575014 as well as the individual 'Location' albums. The UK videos which are either 1998 to 2005 origin or modern 4K (2017 onwards) also have their own album https://www.flickr.com/photos/irishswissernie/albums/72157678764785058 21 videos so far; the early content is mainly Cornwall freight 1998 -2000 Not getting much modelling done with pratting about with these old tapes but am resisting the temptation to start on the 200 hours plus of Swiss tapes 1998-2009! Ernie
  6. Whilst trying to identify the location of a Maunsell mogul on a slide received today I remembered that Broadstone Dublin ex M&GWR terminus also had a roundhouse as well as the 4 road straight shed ERnie
  7. There was also another in Dublin but not on the main line railways! Guinness Brewery. ERnie
  8. I have this book I somehow found out about it being published privately back in May 2015; the guy I ordered it from who I think actually co-ordinated the publishing etc was a Michael Patterson at aliceandtom@live.co.uk and price inc p&P to UK was £19.95. Its an excellent 185 page hard back book with many colour illustrations. Unfortunately I doubt if there are any copies left to sell but you never know. I have a few T&CLR images in this album https://www.flickr.com/photos/irishswissernie/albums/72157627276170054 There could well be a few more in the pipeline next month - fingers crossed. Ernie
  9. I have added a few more video's including 166 picking up loaded fuel tanks on Alexandra Road and also a busy sequence at Cherryville in October 2004 featuring 4 different freights seen in an hour. At : https://www.flickr.com/photos/irishswissernie/albums/72157706536575014 Ernie
  10. I have added a few more excerpts from my Irish video taken 2000 to 2005. AS well as including them in the various Flickr photographic albums; I have also added them to a new Irish Video Flickr album. https://www.flickr.com/photos/irishswissernie/albums/72157706536575014 This should make it easier for those of you wishing to just watch the video's. Ernie
  11. I guess you have Roger Cromblehome's book, "County Donegal Railways Companion" published by Midland Publishing in 2005. It has numerous photos drawings etc of the Donegal including Stranorlar. If you havn't cheapest source is Amazon UK £9.99 plus £2-80 postage. I met Roger once on Limerick station and think he is the chap who does the Alphagraphix kits and buildings. Ernie
  12. I have about 25 original views of Stranorlar in my CDRJC album on Flickr https://www.flickr.com/photos/irishswissernie/albums/72157662649694575 ERnie
  13. No I don't think I have any. Ernie
  14. No I don't think so, no loop on running line at Mallow and I am pretty sure that is an Oil storage tank in the distance. Ernie Later: I have found a photo by HC Casserley, 23 April 1955 which has the grey concrete gate post on it so I am pretty sure that it is Foynes Oil sidings.
  15. More video's uploaded. Limerick Junction June 2005 in 5 parts so far: Part 1 is https://www.flickr.com/photos/irishswissernie/46738009052/in/dateposted/ Parts 2 to 5 are also uploaded. I think the scenario was that a 201 Class or Mk 3 set had failed in Cork and it was decided to swop over 202 on a down Liner with 190+ 134 on an up mt cement so that the 202 could return to Dublin and switch to a passenger diagram. As the Baby GM's couldn't take the same train load as a 201 class; 2 wagons were removed to the sidings where they were added to a following Limerick/Cork combined LIner. My video technique wasn't so good in those days and its a bit "over-active", copied from Digital 8 Tape. Ernie
  16. Where's this one? looks like a Private siding. Probably 1991. I have a hunch its Foynes Oil Siding Can anyone confirm? Thanks Ernie
  17. With my newly acquired skills? I have now uploaded the video of the 7mm narrow gauge Sligo & Donegal Junction Rly from October 2000 https://www.flickr.com/photos/irishswissernie/31832746537/in/dateposted/ Ernie
  18. Try it again Flickr had decided that it was 'Private' rather than public! ERnie
  19. I think I've got it sussed ! Flickr hasn't changed yet; at present you can only upload Videos of up to 3 minutes but when the new format starts later this year I can upload video's up to 10 minutes in length. Here are a couple more from May 2000 at Limerick Junction. First 192 reverses the Mts from Athy into Platform 2 and goes off to rescue a failed 127 on the Push/Pull. 192 then takes them off to Limerick passing a Cork Liner and an mt bagged cement. The Video is from old Hi8 stock and not so good as the later Digital 8 material I switched to a couple of years later. I will just put links on as I think they should work. https://www.flickr.com/photos/irishswissernie/46025400434/in/dateposted/ https://www.flickr.com/photos/irishswissernie/39785068603/in/photostream/ Fingers crossed Ernie
  20. As luck would have it, my experiments in uploading my video to flickr today were from the same date as this sequence of the Tara's arriving at Alexandra Road behing 088 in June 2003. You can see patches of the red/brown livery through the grey dust. Its a bit shaky in places, probably jet lag from the Ryanair long haul ex Geordie land that morning. Ernie Its only uploaded part of the video! Possibly there is a daily limit.
  21. For some reason it's been marked as 'PRIVATE' ! I have amended the settings.
  22. Bit of a pain I've tried it as embedded but it won't work, possibly something to do with the changes on Flickr recently introduced. Ernie
  23. I think you can just click on to the link - I don't think you have to sign in to Flickr. Ernie
  24. I've been experimenting with uploading some of my own video to Flickr. First attempt is 080 arriving at Claremorris with the Ballina ECS set and then shunting the Guinness wagons in June 2003 https://www.flickr.com/photos/irishswissernie/32862241808/in/dateposted/ Ernie
