Agree 100%. If it brings new people into the hobby, everybody wins. New ideas, new perspectives, more customers for IRM, Murphy Models, Provincial Wagons, JMD etc further down the line.

Bit of a shame from a hardcore modellers perspective, if it genuinely is Railroad Range, but since they are so cheap BNIB on eBay, might be great for enticing new people into the hobby. Might just be the artwork was based on the railroad model? Have seen them as cheap as €50 odd BNIB on eBay.

@Broithe mentioned it briefly yesterday morning, without the detail of today's posts: I think it's absolutely brilliant that @Marks Models are commissioning a Jinty. I don't care whether the tooling is Bachmann, Hornby or Lima. If it brings new people to the hobby, and they then buy wagons or coaches from IRM, Murphy Models or Provincial Wagons, then happy days. Maybe they'll end up buying five new 071's in two or three years, along with rakes of coaches and wagons. If it's not good enough for forum members, then good for you, don't buy it, but try not to demean people indirectly, or unintentionally, who are going to buy it. I'll definitely order one, to support Marks Models, to support Irish railway modelling in general, and to see what it's like.

I saw mention in the IRM weedspray thread that the weedspray tanks were repurposed from tank wagons running on triangulated chassis, so I guess that's another - tank wagons.

I wonder if it would be easier to re-number them as 184, rather then change the vents? The last 184 was in later IE livery so no clash there.

What were the Bulleid triangulated chassis used for aside from the single and double corrugated opens? I saw somebody mention H vans, too. Did any survive into the modern era under other guises? When did the Permanent Way ones enter and leave service?

Sounds like the Mk2D's are due AFTER the 141's, a relief to me, and presumably to many others And the other thread on the new run of Mk2D's is here:

These few posts seemed like a relevant update to this thread: So, new 141's probably due late January, but bear in mind that the Chinese New Year often delays things a little.

Was just thinking the same about the wagons, but the Ruston's are too far off. IRM's first O Gauge loco will definitely be an A Class. Probably not this side of Christmas, but let's not rule anything out!
