Remaining Class 92 and Mark 5 Delivery Update
DJ Dangerous replied to Warbonnet's topic in British Outline Modelling
I see from this post from @Georgeconna that some modellers have found the Mk5 lighting unsatisfactory. I also see that @BosKonay replied several times in the comments under the video which was in that post, saying that the brightness is to scale. I'd be fine with scale brightness, and would probably be more concerned with consistent brightness across a layout - some scale coach lighting and some operating surgery lighting side by side may look off. A physical brightness switch underneath future coaches may solve that. No messing with CV settings, nor asking around on the internet for help, no buying rolls of LEDs, no soldering, just a switch with "S" for "Scale Brightness" and "X" for "Extra Bright" or whatever. Are there any other tips and tricks that members have on the Mk5's? I have read on YouTube that the DVT bogie requires attention to stop flickering lighting out of the box. Unscrew it and clean the contacts or something like that. -

There is a nice way of saying that if you are telling the truth. No need to insult or belittle people, their reasons or their models.

You're back to your passive-aggressive bullying and flaming again? Aw, I thought that you'd grown up. Oh well, maybe next year.

How very dare you??? I have separate display cabinets for my empty pizza boxes, sorted by the type of cheese used.

You wanna see my display case full of empty milk bottles???

You mean people like me, who live in the real world, have jobs, do voluntary work, have other things to do, and are lucky to run their trains a few times per year...

I forgot to mention acetone on plastics. Both @murphaph and @Ironroad warned me not to let the acetone near any plastics. So, in the name of science, I decided to dab loads of it onto some plastic to see what would happen. I have a few of these trailers that I'll eventually stick labels onto, so was happy to take the risk in the name of science. Basically, the acetone melts / burns the plastic. I reckon that you'd totally destroy fine parts like wipers, mirrors etc if you weren't careful, and the surface of tougher plastic ends up scarred. Whatever you do, don't let this stuff near your locos or coaching stock!

Westport Quay and the Project 42 Inglenook

You mean 19 days from now? -

And that is enough substance abuse for today. Trio of orange Transits, trio of Morris LDs and a few de-Stobart-ized truck cabs.

Absolutely lovely!

What ever happened to Project Dutch? Did @murphaph provide pictures or dimensions or something? -
Lucky I'm teetotal or things could get really hectic! Between IRM draining my bank account and forum members pushing me onto harder and harder stimulants, this could all end in tears.

With thanks to @Moxy for highlighting here that Morris LD's ARE actually available in 1:76, and with thanks to @murphaph for telling me about @Flying Scotsman 4472 posting a video on Facebook, I went down to Mercadona (local supermarket chain) tonight and grabbed a 200ml bottle of pure acetone... This stuff is magic!!! Just tried it on a few vehicles earlier and it is wicked stuff. Obviously I lack the finesse of a true modeller, but just testing it out and I'm well pleased with the results.

Reading the comments, it looks like the editor stole all of the clips from somebody else and did not credit them for several years. A shame as for me, that takes a lot away from it.

Would love to see these shots recreated with the rolling stock that you now have - maybe even a "drone" style video covering some of them. Too many posts to click like on al at once...

An interesting take on Pachelbel's Canon:

Savage! Now that I look at their website, I think that I have seen their products on eBay before. Thanks for that, great solution! -
Spare Wing Mirrors - Where To Find Them?

Don't think I've had any bus or truck attacks, yet, but beggars can't be choosers when buying this stuff as it's rare as hen's teeth at fair prices. -

Get yourself a few Mags. Gorgeous little wagons, probably the nicest IRM wagon on that shared chassis.
