We're delighted to announce that we will open the order book for the Tara Mines wagons this weekend at our range launch! The first run of models will see five packs of two wagons in the current red oxide scheme, giving you an authentic ten wagon train. The wagons promise to have a level of detail yet to be seen in 4mm, including rotating axle caps, kinematic couplings and a wealth of separately applied detail. We will be able to take orders at the event on Saturday and online. Prices will be €79.95 per pack. Excited? We are!

Hi everyone, We're really excited about this Saturday, but of course we have to keep one eye on the weather in case this beast yoke actually happens! So, we're going to keep the event on for now, but make a final call on Friday evening about going ahead or not at around 9pm. Sorry we didn't get to stop and chat, we saw a grand total of two layouts in the day and a half that we were there! The rest was work duties for IRM and Accurascale. Was a great show, would recommend it to anyone for standard of exhibits and trade as well as nice sociable feel to it!

Patrick and I have just returned from the Glasgow show. We were delighted to do a special commission with the National Railway Museum with their Locomotion Models arm and in conjunction with Rails Limited. They’ve opted to do a special three pack edition of the first three of the HOP24/HUO wagons of the variant we are producing. These were built in Shildon, where the NRM now has a museum. They will come in a specially decorated box which Patrick has done an amazing design job on and is available for £69.95 on the Locomotion and Rails websites. We met with the NRM and Rails on Tuesday in York and they were highly impressed with our HUO hopper as well as the IRM output that they were keen to work with us. We’re genuinely humbled as they insist on ‘Museum Quality’ models as seen by the other models they have commissioned over the years. If you are at Model Rail Scotland today you can see the samples of the hopper in the cabinet of Rails, Locomotion and there is also one on the Scalefour Society stand which has been converted to P4 finescale standards. All it took to convert the wagon was a simple drop in fit of the wheel sets. We will have a sample of the HOP24/HUO with us at the IRM launch on the 3rd in anyone wants to have a look!

We’ve just had additional shelving installed in IRM towers in preparation for all the additional models we will have in stock this year for both IRM and Accurascale. The IRM stock alone that we are announcing on March 3rd will take up a healthy portion of space!

Hi everyone, I'm delighted to report that we have now received the first production samples of our HUO from the factory in China. Here are some pics, but before you have a good look, please remember the following caveats: 1. I'm terrible, I mean truly terrible at photography! 2. There are revisions that are needed to tooling. Now, despite previous reports you may have seen elsewhere, this does not cost the earth at this stage, and is easily done. The brake gear does indeed need amending, with the shoes slightly too small and the assembly itself being slightly too large. This revision has already been sent to our factory to sort out. The self-contained buffers are receiving further refinement too. 3. The bling wheels will of course, be toned down for production 4. It is a hastily hand assembled, made on a Friday afternoon before Chinese New Year, so the fit and finish is not A1, but it will be on the finished model. 5. The slight warping of the chassis parts are down to haste too, these will be rectified on the finished model. 6. The NEM Pockets are well off and are being dropped to correct NEM height for production. Cheers! Fran

Well everyone, you told us that you would like to find out the 2018 IRM range in advance, so make sure you join us on Saturday, March 3rd, 2018 in Ryan's Bar, Store Street where we will announce the models coming in 2018 as well answer your questions and host a social event for Irish railway modellers. Ryan's is a special place for IRM, as it's where we held our very first meeting way back in 2015, so it seems only right we have our launch there. We kick off at 4pm and food will be provided. If you want to come along, it is essential you RSVP by 6pm on Wednesday, Feb 28th to info@irishrailwaymodels.com as we need to know for catering requirements. All are welcome and we hope to see you there on the day! Now, feel free to speculate what we may announce!
