Sunday treat on the 1030 ex Connolly during 1992.
It became normal for double heading as a single 121 struggled with 6 piece pp on the
Rosslare line.
When the 201s came along in 1994 the 071s found themselves
on the Sunday Mk3 PPs.
A unusual train of just two MK3 PPs and 142+144 on a Railtour
for Ian Walsh at Wellingtonbridge.I remember it was freeeezzing
that morning and the wife was giving out about waiting around
for this bloody train. The things you do for your hobby:x
I was chatting to Anthony a while back and I just
Discovered that the 071 class are taller than the
141/181 class. Now that is one thing that caught me
out as I thought they were both the same in height.
I persume the height difference is in the buffer area
and the cabs are the same.I had always wondered
why the red Panal between the buffers was more
Raised on a 071 class.
Hi Philip, you could try the IRRS at Heuston station
who might have it.check their website for nights they
meet,I think it's Tuesday nights.The shapeways wagons
are very handy if a bit expensive.Saves me scratch building
though.
OMD had played with Joy Division at Erics in Liverpool and were
infleunced by Ian Curtis moves and music. He is 32 years dead today!.
RIP Ian.OMD tribute song-http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=fufgVs5hAWk
Jeepers Shem I was only 25 then and still had a bit of hair left.
I only found out about MIR in 1995 through aback issue of ITG journal
which shocked me to find 141s,121s,071,wagons etc all for sale.
If you go to my workbench at the start and scroll down
You will see my 201 with the speaker installed.I got the
Speaker form DCC supplies and I think it's bass enhanced
or bass reflex- one or the other. The speaker that comes
with the 201 is bog standard and you need to remove the
Speaker and plastic cradle that it lies in.
The two wires from the speaker need to be desoldered from
The main board, and I will check the dimensions later as space
is tight because of the main board and gear tower.
All you have to do is to solder the speaker wires back onto the
main board when you get your new speaker. Some double sided
Tape or similar will hold the speaker in place.
I
Whatever you do don't get the dynamis,as I have one in a box which keeps showing a short even though
There in none.spend your money wisely and go for the more expensive unit-powercab-prodigy-etc.
I have read about a lot of problems with the dynamis and Anthony will tell you the same.
If you could call to see someone's layout that has DCC, that would help.As Anthony has said
Everyone has their fav unit so if you can,do check different units out.
