  1. I remember you wanting to weather A39 ROFL. The ITG have done a fab job on her,as you can see with the condition of the engine room. A lot heavy cleaning and painting, and the same can be said for 226 in Carrick as the work is simply fantastic when you consider how long restoration is going on with limited manpower.
  2. Now thats what you call a proper attic.Nice job Dave:)
  3. As my own layout is still under construction,I thought Id post up a few photos of Gerry Byrnes Ballybeg that I took a few months back.
  4. As far as I know during the 90s all the 071 class had major cab rebuilds which Replaced a large area under the cab side windows and cab floor and particulary around the headlight area. The remaining token catcher plate seemed to disappear then or am I wrong?.Was 082 the single loco that got name plates as Patrick said. Have some photos of cab rebuilds in the albums-must get them out.
  5. You never know.Maybe.When you think back ten years ago who would have thought what goodies we have now.
  6. I know what you mean, but I suppose the SF A and C class are not bad when you consider the Q kits and Lima class 33 repaint.
  7. Some photos for anyone like myself who might be doing a model of A39.
  8. The IRRS seems your best bet Ant,as I remember Rev Norman Gamble is/was a expert on GNR aspects and done a good few articals in the journal. You could PM Ciaran-Eiretrains who is a IRRS member and could let you know what photos are in the society. As Jonathan said worth joining IRRS.
  9. That's great that 112 is the same as the one that ran South as I would be more incline to get one now.
  10. You should have come to the Wexford show Bud.
  11. A truely fantastic book Jonathan, and one of my fav photos is B103 at Charlestown and the photo opposite of the bike race having to jump over LC gates when closed across road.
  12. Great shot there Noel, and welcome to the dark side of DCC.Are you going for the prodigy?.
  13. Lovely job and very same as my 156 and 143 which Anthony Done as well. The factory paint job really annoyed me on the IR 141s as the orange was far too bright.I will post up a few photos when I get a chance.
  14. I did not get any rear shots Broithe but if you check out the web site fireservice trust I am sure that there is more Photos to view of the fire engine.
  15. Here are a few shots of last years pumpathon in Athy.
  16. Nice vandalism there Seamus, now I could be a vandal myself as I butchered a nice bachmann class 20 a few years back as I thought it would fit my MIR white metal 141.God I made a hens a**e of it:confused:,and still have the damm think on a shelf in the shed to remind me of me vandalism. I suppose I am a bit hard on myself as this happened before I had the internet or even knew anybody that was into model railways, unlike now where plenty of advice is always on hand:o
  17. Great to see you here John.your expertise is always welcome.
  18. Welcome to the site Des.Now you do know that you have pay hello money to become a senior member.lol.
  19. Very impressive work there-fair play.
  20. And that sound of a 071 at full throttle and turbo screaming is a sound to behold.
  21. Just wondering lads a few times I have got too large a file when trying to upload photos. I am not the best when it comes to the IT end of things.Any Hints?.
  22. I dont think so Seamus. If you have heard the 071 class chip, that does not have the turbo charged roar at 90 mph that you heard miles away,as the 071 class that was recorded (088) was stationery in Waterford yard.I dont know if IE would give permission for a recording at speed for a 071. As for the A class we will never see 60/70 mph on these again.
  23. If you like Fire Engines ,patrticulary older ones....why not visit- 10th Irish Pumpathon, Emily Sq, Athy, Co Kildare, Sunday 13 May 11 to 5.
  24. Thats exactly the speed we done. When Gerry Byrne organised Mr Sound guy to travel to Downpatrick, the ITG(who own A39) said that A39 is looked after very well and is not pushed very hard and kept to about 25 mph as Patrick has said. However as can be seen from the first video we did push the empty stock up hill for a while and got a load condition. That is probobally as good as it gets,as the days of laden beet 001s charging up Taylorstown viaduct will never happen again. As can be seen the ITG have done a fantastic job in the engine room as well, with a hell of a lot of work done painting etc.I cant wait to hear the sound chip.Keith(Mr Sound Guy) was telling me about the process involved in recording the sound wihich is the easy bit, however a lot of work is involved to get the sounds right for the chip.Keith has considerable experience as a sound engineer so that helps. As for the future, class 80,121,C 226,and anything with a engine or steam can be recorded.
