  1. Thanks very much all! truly praise from Caesar The surface finish in person is significantly better than the last sample, however there were some unfortunate marks on the boiler and smokebox which are down to the printer having to be cleaned out, as well as a small hole in the running board on the front right side I am particularly pleased with the way the M2.5 nut is held, it goes in this little trough as shown, the model is tipped forward to line it up with the hole, and then the chassis can be inserted, and the original mounting hole used
  2. Cab detail from the first finished model, it will be tomorrow before Im able to take proper photos
  3. The first test of the finished model started printing at 1am last night, it should be ready in approximately 2 1/2 hours and be ready to show tomorrow all going well
  4. This might be of use to you
  5. I snapped up this Rivarossi Saxon Meyer in the Hattons closing down sale, a snip at £58, also a DCC SNCF 0-4-0 (0-8-0 in English) for £40
  6. A absolute work of art Alan, another tour de force
  7. - The death of Goethe was more recent than the death of Freddy Mercury is today - Puffing Billy was still at work at Wylam colliery - The Charge of the light brigade was more recent than the death of David Bowie is today -The Battle of Rorke's Drift wouldn't happen for another 17 years, and the gunfight at the OK Corral for 19 years
  8. Absolutely lovely to see this vehicle get some well earned attention, the third oldest passenger carriage in the country, would you have a length and width over body to go with that lovely drawing perchance?
  9. Oxford Dean Goods, which is within 1mm of the prototype wheelbase and perfect wheel diameter, the wires connecting the tender pickups to the loco will need to be soldered together to enable it to run without the tender The 800 class is officially finished awaiting the first test print
  10. Shes a senior platelayer on the garden line!

  12. Hi Gibbo, have you any reference photos of what the cab interior would have looked like in service? Regards
  13. Cab detail progress, still a work in progress but the last thing to do on the 800
  14. Mechanical lubricator detail, 800 class imminent
  15. Ive just checked my reference material and the July 1939 Locomotive magazine states the Greenore saddle tanks had 5' 2 1/2" drivers, Wikipedia states the Crewe locos as having 4' 5 1/2" drivers, both classes are derived from the famous DX series, so if the Irish locos have the same wheelbase as a DX Id be quite interested in Cadding one to 3d print if anyone has drawings
  16. The Crewe Special tanks and the 4' 6" mansion house tanks, but I have a feeling in the case of the Greenore saddle tanks the Irish locos had larger driving wheels than their English counterparts, don't know off the top of my head though
  17. 'Nono I'm not the type of person to get distracted at all, why do you ask?'
  18. Not since the last photo of it, the 800 is the priority currently as its on commission, but when thats finished (soon) I expect to be able to do more work on that, can't wait to have one in my hands as they're much more the right period and the right region for me
  19. Ive put a hexagonal hole in the base of the smokebox to hold the nut, its just a question of getting it in there thats the problem, what I'll probably do is extend the slot to the back of the smokebox so the nut can be slid in from behind, and then I'll put a top on this hole so the nut wont be lifted when the screw comes in from underneath Ive just tried a Patriot chassis under the test print, the answer is 'surprisingly well' but I'll have to be altering the cab floor area slightly for that, so itll be a separate version for each chassis, the tender is another story however, the patriot one is too short by 5-6mm so ideally you'd have to get hold of a secondhand royal scot one
  20. This is as good as I have, from the article published in 1932 when the V class first came out, hope its of use to you
  21. Id do that but Id be a little concerned about the resin cracking, I'll see if this current version I have works and I'll revise if needed, it was just that I couldnt get my finger in from the narrow gap in the bottom of the boiler
  22. Thankya, I just have to alter the front underside of the body slightly as the front body mounting is an M2.5 screw and nut, but getting the nut in is a significant challenge as is, apart from that it all lines up perfectly
  23. Bear in mind this is only an early test print, still rife with imperfections both digital and in terms of print settings, even the primer didn't go on perfectly, but it fits the chassis as intended
