Killian Keane replied to Killian Keane's topic in Irish Models
I ran off a quick test print of the new smokebox door last night, Id consider that a success, it really does change the look of the loco (donor N class kindly loaned by @GSR 800) -

It would be significantly more modern then Im personally interested in , but if there is a viable proprietary chassis and there would be enough sales I wouldnt say no -

Latest 3d printed item consists of a replacement smokebox door for the Bachmann N class that's more representative of what they had in Ireland, again with gratefully received help from @GSR 800 -
Heritage Railways in the Republic of Ireland
Killian Keane replied to Celtic_transport's topic in General Chat
Regardless of the lack of dedicated steam railways here, we're able to run 110+ year old 4-4-0s on the main line, which would be unthinkable and presumably unprofitable in the UK, I even go so far as to say if we had any 2-4-0s surviving they would probably be viable on the main line, could you imagine say the GER T26 or the LSWR T3 going mainline? Always good to look at the positives -
It was very enjoyable indeed, one highlight for me was Brian Mathews's exceptional early railways stand VID_20250601_141750275.mp4

I came across this delightful little thing a while back, Hunslet 268/1881 Fergus, apparently supplied new to HC Drinkwater at Ennis in connection with a land reclamation project on the river Fergus, the loco was 2ft 6in gauge and I believe lasted until the late 1950s in England, catalogue information from leeds engine info

magnificent work as usual! Ireland's only Pacific I think?

Both the gent that designed that and the gent selling it are top chaps to deal with too, cant recommend them enough (you'll find the odd kit of mine on that website too!)
-
Id say the 7 1/4" one is about as close as we'll ever get to seeing the real one steam! I have a kit in 00 for the hornby royal scot chassis, soon to be made for the Airfix RS chassis too

None to show since the last update Im afraid, I was rather tied up over Christmas, a lot of commission jobs on too, as soon as work quietens down a bit and I get a free moment I'll be right back on that project -
