  1. I found that extremely enjoyable, its great to have faces to put to so many names, the highlights for me included the gorgeous Tralee and Dingle tank in 15mm scale and the Lartigue layout
  2. Ill try and make it tomorrow, might bring the odd print with me
  3. Try the Lartigue Museum if you're ever nearby, they sell old railway mags, Ive a few hundred to bring them next time I'm down!
  4. Two from my collection, from my late grandfather
  5. An excerpt from the Locomotive Magazine, 1934, relating to the Guinness system, one detail that jumped out at me as new information was the green livery for the Hudswell locos at the time rather than the blue we are more familiar with now
  6. Question thats only now occurred to me about this line, the locos and stock would have had to be transported by the W&L to Listowel, but how would they have actually done it? I dont imagine the stabilising wheel frames under the front of the locos could have taken their weight, so if they were being moved on their own wheels then a section of Lartigue track must have been set up on top of 5' 3" open or flat wagons, what a bizarre sight it must have been!
  7. The Loch comes as a very pleasant surprise, you never quite know what you're going to get from Rapido!
  8. Did the locos whistles play all the right notes just in the wrong order?
  9. If I could go back in time? It would probably be the Hibernia, an unusual design even for the time and obviously significant in being the first loco in Ireland, then theres the Princess, the first loco built here In terms of something that stood a realistic chance of survival I would agree about the Waterford and Tramore 2-2-2 tank, or indeed a main line 2-4-0 such as the WLWR G3 or MGWR G2, the latter of course not only being the last main line 2-4-0 in Ireland but Europe in general
  10. Extraordinary to see movement after so many years Is the plan for A3 to eventually have it running? If so it would probably be the first time two As had been seen running together this century
  11. I had the pleasure of encountering this loco in person recently at Stradbally, as well as a number of other live steam locos, the connection only occurring to me now
  12. Rebuilt MGWR class A is underway, any good photographs or better drawings much appreciated
  13. Ive had great experience using Postal Pickup in Derry, doesnt work for everything however because under certain circumstances a lot of places in the UK wont post to the North, I believe due to GPSR
  14. Thank goodness outside cylinders are almost entirely confined to the Narrow gauge on Irish railways, and that Walschaerts only appears on a portion of those!
  15. Now that GSR 800, as the person that commissioned the K1 smokebox doors has received his, consider the order books open to the general public at 5 euros each with the hand wheel included
  16. Did you have to jump through many hurdles? Im very conscious of their having the only Dublin and Kingstown coach remaining
  17. Extraordinary stuff Harry! 3rd loco is in the primordial stages, watch this space!
  18. Fair swap for Kettering 3 right?
  19. certainly, the MGWR A class will be first but Ill be more than happy to get on with the 400s afterwards
  20. yes I can do full tenders, Ive done them in the past though not to my current standards, the WLWR goods will be getting one, the only thing is using a modern RTR chassis for the loco the wiring between loco and tender will have to be re-soldered in such a way as that the loco will run without being connected to the tender pickups
  21. I ran off a quick test print of the new smokebox door last night, Id consider that a success, it really does change the look of the loco (donor N class kindly loaned by @GSR 800)
  22. Ive legitimately had a request for Dublin and Kingstown coaches recently so that shows you the mental space Im in lol
  23. So did I! practically came out yesterday at 109 years of age Though if youd ave asked me I'd have thought they were built about 10 years later than they actually were off the top of my head
