Here are a collection of videos I took of passenger, freight, permanent way and wagon transfer trains in Kildare. I was surprised by the absence of MK4 sets covering most Cork services. Does anybody know about a supposed new rule in Irish Rail that people aren't allowed have tripods on station platforms anymore?

I heard it was going to Belfast. As it still has its generators it will probably be used as a Christmas tree for the enterprise EGVs.

That's a shame. I'm sure I'm not the only one who would like to get one last pic of them on the move.

Are they being scrapped on site in North Wall or is there a possibility they could be moved to Inchicore for scrapping?

Here's the original. Hope the photographer doesn't mind. A pic was also uploaded to Facebook this morning showing 088 shunting a rake of mk3s around Dundalk for scrapping.

That picture was uploaded to Facebook last week. It showed Executive coach 7161 in the green livery seen in Deepthroat's picture except without the white line and the Orient Express logos but it did have the new IR logo. Just in case anyone thought the livery was photo shopped too.

Great pics as usual Noel! The Carlow station building is lovely especially with the vending machines. Any chance of a 201 hauled mixed freight of your BELL containers and fertilizers working on Tara Junction anytime soon? That would be a heavy one.

It is great to see some freight in operation alright. It was a good day out if it wasn't for the bloody wind and cold. My hands were frozen hence the reason why I accidentally turned off the camera as the timber was rolling in!

Great pics! But I was expecting 077 on its way to Waterford with the flats today

There is one rake of 18 flats and one rake of 12 pockets used on the DFDS liners. The reason I ask if the flats were there is because I hope to get video of the ex Ballina DFDS tomorrow which is always made up of the flats. I haven't yet filmed 219 or 077 so it would be great if I could catch both of these tomorrow on the ex Ballina IWT and DFDS liners. The DFDS and Timber trains may not run tomorrow though because of the land slides in Thomastown and Waterford.

They are used on the sperry and weedspray trains. There are five 42'6'' wagons in this IWT liner seen at 8:00 https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=4biVwkmwE_0 I'm not too sure about the location of the rest of them. I think there are some in Mallow on a siding that is now disconnected or maybe they have been cut up.

Mostly 47'6''. I have never seen the 42'6'' wagons used on the DFDS liner but I have counted five being used on one IWT train a few times. If you wanted to model the DFDS/Norfolk liner you should probably go for the 47'6'' wagons but I would go for the 42'6'' otherwise as they can be used on beer trains, BELL liners, general containers and if you wanted to you could also scratchbuild extra removable bodies to mount onto them to convert them to fertilizer or the newer beet wagons. SSM as you probably know will be releasing the 42'6'' wagons soon enough which makes them a better choice too.

I am very interested in the Guinness liners too. I know that the up and down liners between Heuston and Waterford used to cross in Kilkenny during the night. The up liner used to arrive first and pick up some wagons from the freight siding in Kilkenny and shunt the bogied stock to the front of the train. The down liner would then arrive, allowing the north bound train to depart. It would then drop off wagons to be loaded with kegs of Budweiser from the Smithicks brewery, shunt the bogied wagons to the front of the train and continue to Waterford. Lots of excitement compared to what Kilkenny is like nowadays. Towards the end of the flow, the train would only run as far as Kilkenny with locos travelling light engine between Dublin and Kilkenny to pick up the train at Kilkenny or return to Dublin after dropping off the train at Kilkenny. Some brilliant pics above but I'm afraid I have none to contribute.

Here's a video and a number of pics of the finished loads for the Guinness wagons. Usually these wagons derail with the Murphy 201s because of the 201 couplings.

Thanks lads. The kegs themselves are made by MIR. I can't wait to see the level crossing painted and put in position on the layout, it will no doubt add a bit of "Irishness" to it.
