A second loco will be needed for the run from Cobh to Killarney so I'd imagine the current Cork pilot (215 ) will end up on the tour for the rest of the week. Will the railtour be coming into Colbert station on the journey from Killarney to Ennis and will the loco and coaches be in Ennis for the night?
That's a fantastic looking livery. It will look good with Merlin and Slieve Gullion. Will the GSV be out in blue anytime soon jhb171achill? Does anyone know what is happening on the Waterford to Cork leg of the railtour? Will there be a reversal into Limerick Junction off the Waterford/Limerick line?
I have another clip of a 201 leaving Kildare to be uploaded soon and it sounds amazing.
A few track machine start ups and shunts, two 071 timber runarounds, a surprise mk4 visit and an 071 hauled IWT liner I caught at Kildare.
I was using your photos as a reference for the very same query. You have pics of the double stack containers in use in 2001 and 2004 on the Waterford liners.
I also recall seeing them in Kilkenny (although never on the wagons) in 03 and 04. Your archives are an excellent resource by the way!
I'll be in Sallins between 9:30 and 12:30 for the two IWT liners and the wagon transfers. I'll head to Kildare then for the empty timber and extra IWT liner. I'll be leaving Kildare around 3:30.
Thanks lads. It's clear I have too much time on my hands I'll be in Sallins and Kildare next Thursday for the wagon transfers and freight and that will be it for a few months.
I was in Kildare station from 12:30 to 5:15 on Thursday with not a MK4 set in sight. I heard from a driver that 083 is the loco to get on film at the moment. It out performed 218 and 219 on the laden timbers this week .
Probably getting preserved. There is always talk that the ITG are getting 6105. Apparently 6105 was getting some treatment in Inchicore and is due to return to North Wall.
Heirflick I'd say you only barely missed DVT 6105 and a rake of mk3s being transferred to Inchicore behind 077. "The Irish Mainline" on Youtube took these shots for me on my camera today so all credit goes to him for the shots.
