  1. Also available from Seamus Graham's paint-shop are the Super train Mk3s which Seamus lightly weathered for me,they look great behind 192-but will look even better behind an 071 from October. 7101 standard coach 7401 dining car. Behind 192. Thanks Seamus.
  2. Yes-expect the additional IWT liners to pass Kildare between 14:30-15:00 on Wednesday and 12:45-13:15 on Thursdays.
  3. Withdrawn 181 class loco 191. Recently spotted on the back of Donnell and Ellis low loader was withdrawn loco 191 heading for Tara Jctns loco depot After being unloaded the body shell was dumped at the back of the loco sheds awaiting a decision on its future Today the Chief mechanical engineer came to view the loco and it was decided that the loco was uneconomic to repair-so the decision has been made to scrap the loco, Here we see the loco about to be stripped of all useful parts-while the tender goes out for the cutting up of the loco For the younger members of the group, The real loco 191 was Northwall pilot loco on 17th August 1991 when after being left unattended mysteriously ran driverless from Northwall as far as Clonsilla where the signalman diverted the runaway loco into a siding where it collided with the buffer stop, catching fire in the process, After being brought back to Inchicore the loco was dumped at the back of the works and stripped for spare parts, eventually being cut up sometime in 1998-the first 181 class to be withdrawn and scrapped The model is a former MIR white metal kit.
  4. Photo taken between the Curragh and Kildare in 1984,according to an IRRS journal around that time the train was one of the first sets of Mk3s to be formed and was used as a publicity shoot for the introduction of the trains to various routes, A public timetable from 1984 has a picture of the same train on its cover-taken from the opposite side to the above photo.
  5. The 071's along with the 121/141/181's began to get those LED marker lights from late 2000 and mainly during 2001,077 being one of the first locos to be fitted with them from what I can remember.
  6. [ We plan a skeleton flat as built by CIE and suitable for a standard 20ft container. I might even do a model of the orange CIE container to go on it. I would definatly be interested in quite a few of these MX type wagons including a container-also useful for carrying guinness pallets.
  7. A fine impressive and highly detailed loco shed-one of the finest i've ever seen-well done to Glenderg for building such a model, and thanks for sharing Anthony.
  8. It was originally a tamping machine-before being converted to a hedge cutter, It's not in use anymore as IE prefer to use outside contractors that have road/rail machines with hedge cutting attachments instead.
  9. Fantastic-really really impressive, well done Paddy Murphy-definatly model of the year for 2012. Roll on October, thanks Gareth for posting.
  10. 26735 is a stores oil wagon, the 'D' on the tank stands for diesel oil, I remember the wagon being part of the ESSO oil train-also in the picture, The wagon was used in later years to transport diesel to the Bus Eireann depot in Ballina and was often part of the 20:45 Northwall-Ballina liner returning when empty on the 22:10 Ballina-Northwall liner, sometimes it was the only wagon behind an 071 loco from Ballina-Claremorris travelling at only 35mph, The wagon would also have been used along with others for the Alexandra rd-Inchicore fuel oil transfer which used to supply the large storage tanks at Inchicore works.
  11. Correct h gricer-your welcome to the site, great to have you here, 072 worked the last Ballina-Waterford DFDS liner on Friday 06/17/12, 079 worked the last Waterford-Ballina DFDS liner on Tuesday 10/07/12-the liner wagons are now being used for the extra IWT liner on Wednesday and Thursday.
  12. Or maybe something like this...... Another product from the paint shop of Seamus Graham.
  13. Yes Vincent it is loosely based around Inchicore-Heuston with the four track bi-directional lines which give me lots of operating options, Here are a few photos of Monday evenings locos which are being serviced at the depot for evening passenger and freight services, 146 gets checked over at the running shed before being allocated to a fertliser train. A view from the cab of 156 of various locos in the yard. 201 off the 19:00 Mk3 set arrives at the shed and gets checked out-while 210 awaits a driver to work it back to the station for passenger duties, Locos 155+156 will work the oil train transfer from the oil road siding over to the railcar depot and later to the carriage valeting plant after the passenger services have finished.
  14. (This one is for 201bhoy)-220 works a fully loaded IWT liner seen here passing the ammonia and bulk cement. After a loco change which seen 220 allocated to the Mk2 set,8208 was put on to the IWT-a rare loco on a freight train, Shortly after taking over the liner the CTC signalman contacted the driver to say that the hot box detector had been activated and to stop and examine his train, Here we see Driver Anthony about to examine his train having asked Eamonn the CTC signalman for signal protection-209 on the Mk4 set being held at the station until the all clear is given.
  15. Anthony-no rolling stock nowadays carry any names, The last rolling stock in the IE era to carry a name were the Mk3a coaches and they were named "Cu na Mara", They worked on the Heuston-Galway route from 1994 to 2006 until they transferred over to the Westport route for approximately one year until withdrawal in 2007.
  16. 721 is named Jess-the nameplate is halfway on the body.
  17. Eamonn-that's very possible that 112 got the cab side windows off a 141 class loco, I remember 112 working the Ballina branch Cravens set in 2004-and i see from an IRRS journal that loco 158 was cut up at Inchicore in March 2003-so its possible that 112 has 158's cab side windows. Most withdrawals of 141/181's seem to have taken place from 2006 onwards.
  18. That's my model of EM50 no' 700 which is based on IE's track recording car,721 is an inspection car used by per-way inspectors to check conditions of level crossings, fencing, cuttings and embankments along all lines, 721 is the only one of its type and was built in 1993 by Hugh Philips-the only other inspections cars are no's 722 and 723 which are a different type and were built in 1994 by Matisa- I haven't see 722 or 723 for some time.
  19. A nice modelling project to do would be this IE inspection car seen here at Castlerea station siding during the week.....
  20. Excellent job there Eamonn, very realistic ,a typical Irish railway scene nicely recreated.
  21. Many thanks Boskonay and Eamonn-I'm working on the video end of things, In the meantime I bought a few of these excellent Hornby KFA container wagons during the week, the under frame detail is top class and the added bonus of sprung buffers is a nice touch, Now even though they are a 60ft wagons-(ideal for conversion to a timber train)-I decided to use them for my IWT liner as the choice of containers/tanks that come with the wagons are the same as what the real IWT liner carries, and it would be a shame to start cutting and shortening such a fine wagon, The metal frame is heavy and also helps the wagons when running around the layout without containers, So,after repainting the wagons with red oxide paint and applying some 30XXX bogie wagon numbers-it was time for 220 to haul them empty on a trial run around Tara Jctn-all went well, Hera are a few photos of the wagons and the trial run.......
  22. Look forward to that Eamonn-well done with it.
  23. Thanks 201bhoy, Yes I think in future i'll add some commentary of what's doing what etc-a good idea.
  24. Many thanks Josefstadt,it took me a while to figure out the consisting operation for the 2x 141s-but I got there-and I'm happy with that operation, Yes the DFDS liner is in the pipeline-with some weedspray wagons to add to the weedspray coach that's lying in a siding, Thanks again lads.
  25. I've recorded lots of videos of the new layout on my iPhone and will gladly put them on here-except I don't know how to,any help would be greatly appreciated....
