  1. Excellent work there Anthony.
  2. Correct Herflick-that was because it was CIE locos that operated all virtually all cross border freights at that time-the Hunslets were working Enterprise trains and later the GM 111s took over that duty-It was all either 001,B201 or 141/181 that operated freight trains with B201,004,008,046 coming off the worst and 146 being rebuilt after bomb damage.
  3. Correct-I should have used 220 instead....incidently it was 18 years on the 6th June 1994 since 201 landed in this country on board that Antonov, Its first run was on Tuesday 14th June when it operated light engine from Inchicore-Kildare-Inchicore, 201 was officially launched on Friday 24th June 1994-and over the weekend of the 25th/26th June worked a series of load trials of up to 1,000 tonnes between Cork and Rathpeacon, Unfortinuatly today Friday 22 June 2012 loco 201 is stored next to 205,202 and 212 on the scrap bank line at Inchicore works, Although my 201 is back in service at the front of the executive set this evening, Thank Retro for the comments-the sound chips have really made a difference to the layout.
  4. That is correct Anthony, thats what I was told by a former loco driver who operated cross border trains during the 1970s/1980s.btw-Nice photo of Limerick depot.
  5. The original plan was to have three sets of wagons in service-a ten piece,an eight piece and a six piece, however that was short lived as some problems developed with the wagons,so IE decided to hold a few spare,e.g a genny wagon and one or two standard hopper wagons, they can be added/subtracted to sets when they are due for examinations once a month at Limerick wagon works, As of today 21/06 I'm told there are two sets of eight and one set of six in operation around the country-the eight piece having two gen wagons and the six piece having one gen.
  6. The first photo is of a Bachmann 150 repainted as a 2600 on Tara Jctn, transfers by Des at Studio scale models, that was before David Kavanagh produced his brass version 2600-which is excellent....
  7. Top class work Gareth-well done,no mistaking that familiar sound,a few of those locos ticking over on Tara Jctns loco depot will do nicely.....feck the neighbours.....thanks for posting.
  8. Having the same problem with one of my bogie cement wagons-so I've replaced the wheels with Bachmann ones and I've had no problems since,so maybe try that first, Your layout is coming along nicely-that loco shed is the best and most realistic model loco shed I've ever seen-absolutely stunning, well done.
  9. Well done Mark and David for taking the time to produce such a high standard of coach. I'll be in touch.
  10. Wow-excellent job Dave-you've really captured the look of that Control car-well done.
  11. Evening lads, here are a couple of photos of Tara Junctions new heavy haulage low loader being escorted through the centre of the town with a Garda escort, The ICR is heading for Portlaoise depot for attention-the centre car is already at Mr Graham's workshop.
  12. Well done again Anthony-you have a great selection of rolling stock in which your able to recreate scenes from the 1970s to the present day-I like that.
  13. Excellent work as usual Anthony-I liked the 121+141 combo and 2x141s on the Supertrain Mk3s-well done.
  14. They look excellent and will look even better with CIE expressway red and orange livery applied and a supertrain liveried 071 in the background-well done Jim,can't wait.
  15. Wow Eamonn, they really look great, well done, The junction signal is similar to one that used to be in Claremorris.
  16. Many thanks Anthony and Conor for your valuable help,it's much appreciated , I seem to be getting the hang of things now.
  17. Two are fitted with sound chips, while the rest have all Bachmann standard chips.
  18. Great news from Jim Poots model buses will be the release of the long awaited 1970's CIE M class buses, Jim intends to release the kits at the MRSI model railway exhibition in Raheny on the October bank holiday weekend, I'm looking forward to these particular buses as they have been a favourite of mine for a long time, Well done to Jim for producing this bus which I'm sure will be of a high standard-just like the rest of his excellent kits.
  19. Hi Lads, As you know my layout Tara Jctn has been converted to DCC control over the last few weeks-and I'm definatly NOT going back...., One thing that I cant seem to understand/set up properly is the Start Voltage,Top voltage,Acceleration, deceleration etc on my 201 locos, An example; Loco 220 and 221 go like a rocket when the control knob is only turned to (1) so I cant use these for shunting anything, however locos 201,202,210,229 have the right amount of speed-until you try and shunt coaches slowly into the valeting plant-they go a little too fast and cause the coaches to derail, My 141 locos have the right settings and havent caused any problems, Can anyone suggest/recommend what settings I should try on these locos in order to achieve slow speed shunting and fast running on the mainlines, I'm also having trouble with the headlights not coming on in the direction of travel-and in some locos the cab lights dont work either. I'm using the Gaugemaster Prodigy advance 2 as my controller, Any help is much appreciated-Thanks lads.
  20. Well done on your layout BosKonay,Its coming along nicely, you have a great variety of rolling stock also.

  22. Simple-but very effective,an excellent job there Glenderg.
  23. It operated from Heuston to M3 Parkway and back this morning via Northwall.
