  5. Locomotives 166 and 073 are seen here at Tara junction MPD,073 receiving fuel,oil and water while 166 is on the lifting jacks minus bogies.

  7. A propelling movement is about to take place when 230 passes with the down Enterprise-with the Mk2s-the train guard will use the BTDS 916 the set is being propelled by 208
  8. An “Enterprising” night on Tara junction, 080 works the Belfast-Dublin Connolly Mk2 IR set representing the 1987-1993 era, 208 working a Derry-Dublin Connolly special representing the 1990s period 230 working the Dublin Connolly- Belfast De Dietrich set representing the 1997-present era.

  12. Three arrived this morning with three more expected tomorrow…..trial running begins tonight…the locomotive has been allocated…..
  13. The APT project on Tara junction has seen the formation increased to a seven car from a five car set, we see it here on platform 3 prior to working another test run.

  15. To celebrate the 37th anniversary of the formation of Bus Eireann,Dublin Bus and Irish rail-we see an M,D and KR class buses on the station road at Tara junction.

  17. After depositing the ballast hopper wagons in the up siding locomotive 58020 “Doncaster works” has been allocated to work the Speedlink van train and is seen here coupled to the wagons on the factory siding on Ashburton grove.
  18. On this day we celebrate the 37th anniversary of the establishment of Irish rail we turn back the clock to 02/02/1987 on Tara junction. Locomotive 080 is seen here arriving at Tara junction with a repainted set of IR liveried Mk2 coaches as the transition from CIE to IR begins….. Bus Eireann and Dublin bus also came into operation and we see an M,D,KR type buses in the new livery

  20. Friday night at the Lakeview servicing point we see locomotives 036 and 048 in for examination prior to working liner trains later on.
  21. Yes Denis, it was common practice for a barrier wagon to be at the front and rear of the oil trains-to “protect”the contents of the wagons from sparks out of the exhausts of the locomotive, The containers were empty.

While looking for something else,I found a spare MIR MX two axle wagon kit,which was turned into a barrier wagon for the oil tank rake of wagons, Complete with a 20’ weathered container which was placed on the wagon-it has now been added to the oil liner-I am delighted with the outcome, it brings back memories of the real train I used to work from Claremorris twenty years ago.
  23. €229.95 for a DCC ready locomotive and add roughly €100.00 for the sound chip = €330.00, how times have changed-like George has said I’m glad I bought my ones back in 2007,add a speaker and a sound chip will be cheaper for me.
