The West was awake last night as can be seen in the following overnight video of some freight train operations. 036 makes some noise as it works a Shelton abbey-Sligo laden fertiliser. 056 has charge of a Limerick-Tullamore two axle bulk cement train 048 has charge of a Limerick-Ballina pallet cement train-both crews are taking a break before proceeding West

152+126 hauling the laden ammonia have the route made into Lakeview freight yard as 007 waits to depart with the branch passenger service.

On this date 02/02/1987 Bus Eireann,Dublin bus and Irish rail were established, To mark the 35th anniversary today we see a D class double decker and an M class bus on the depot and station road painted in the then livery of Dublin bus and Bus Eireann.

Today marks the 35th anniversary of the establishment of Irish rail,Bus Éireann and Dublin bus, On 02/02/1987 three companies were formed out of CIE, To mark the occasion we see an IR day on Tara junction where the transition from CIE to IR has begun. 130+143,080,048,192 and 049 sport the new IR livery as well as 036, 086,161+132,160,001 and 027 are in the CIE livery.

The driver of the rail link truck has reversed into the distribution centre to collect another load as the forklift drivers await the arrival of the Guinness liner. -
The night shift are busy at the Lakeview freight yard, 190+184 are the pilot locomotives shunting the two axle cement,while the driver of the rail link truck has reversed into the distribution depot to collect another load, The drivers of the forklift trucks await the arrival of the Guinness liner and are ready to unload and reload the laden and empty beer kegs.

The narrow gauge track was initially laid to promote and highlight the presence of the former railway to the passing public and was always intended as that, The plan is to use standard gauge track and trains and have it open to the public in the not too distant future, Standard gauge track has already being laid at the site and this work is ongoing,check out the link below…. https://www.connemararailway.ie/ Donations are welcome Regards ttc0169 -

Some more recent progress at Maam cross station, The construction of the new signal cabin at the Galway end of the station continues at pace,it is located on the original site of the cabin. A lever frame has been acquired and will be installed in the building over the coming weeks. A semaphore signal was refurbished and will be placed near the cabin and will act as the platform starting signal.- 417 replies

Normally confined to freight train operations locomotives 161+126 are seen here filling in for a failed 071 as they arrive at Tara junction with the Mk3 set.

Late night freight at Lakeview yard, Lots of activity under the floodlights at Lakeview earlier as we see liner trains ready for departure; From the left 127+130 hauling an empty timber train from Waterford to Ballina, 124+134 wait in the good loop hauling the Platin-Cork bogie bulk cement. 152+132 hauling the Shelton abbey-Marino point empty ammonia, 085 waits to follow the ammonia working the Lakeview-North esk bogie CPWs 017 has charge of an empty two axle pallet cement liner bound for Limerick Finally 056 will follow 017 hauling the two axle empty bubble cement back to Drogheda having been discharged at the silo earlier in the day. In the distance can be seen locomotives 190+184 which are the freight yard pilots
