  1. Chivers Finelines 6-wheel LMS Fish Van kit assembled as a BR Stores Van. I wasn’t keen on the dummy cut-off centre wheels that came with the kit so I removed the “pinpoints” from some 14mm dia. wheels and fitted them to a scratch-built (from plasticard) “caddy”. This allows the centre wheel to move transversely and the wagon happily negotiated 3rd radius curves. Cheers Darius
  2. Cheers Darius
  3. Another modified Mainline LMS parcels Van. Cheers Darius
  4. Another survivor from my friend’s childhood train set. Brass wire bracing added along with metal wheels, new couplings and a repaint of the chassis. Cheers Darius
  5. Some more Triang bolsters… Cheers Darius
  6. Another ex-LMS parcels van from the Mainline model. Cheers Darius
  7. Canopy completed and weathered. The brass rod rainwater downpipes also act as dowels to mount the canopy to the baseboard. Cheers Darius
  8. Refuelling point canopy under construction using Plastruct I section and 1mm/0.5mm plasticard sheet. Now waiting for channel section purlins and corrugated metal sheeting to arrive. Cheers Darius
  9. Modified Triang R17 single bolster. Bolster block removed and load added. Triang wheels replaced with metal ones and NEM couplings fitted. Cheers Darius
  10. Hardstanding laid for the diesel refuelling point. Cheers Darius
  11. Something different using the Parkside LNER CCT kit. Cheers Darius
  12. Received my Vol.2 from the RPSI yesterday. Wonderful stuff. Cheers Darius
  13. The folk in the know on RMWeb pointed out that the chassis was about 2mm too wide so I set about narrowing it… Cheers Darius
  14. Mainline BR parcels Van with new metal wheels, glazing, window bars and couplings - otherwise oob - plus some weathering. Cheers Darius
  15. More ballasting today - the lift-out section above the helix - and some buffer stops. The buffer stops need a spot of weathering to tone down the “redness” and the track needs to be dirtier. Cheers Darius
  16. Lima LMS GUV repainted into BR blue. Plus new wheels, couplings, cleaned up undergibbons, glazing and glazing bars. Cheers Darius
  17. And now for something completely different… Parkside Lowfit with Oxford Diecast Invacar. Tissue paper sacking padding and 0.25mm marine model rigging thread. Cheers Darius
  18. The initial rail blue enamel finish is sealed with “Klear” varnish before the decals are applied and the decals then sealed in with Klear. After the enamel weathering is sprayed on the datum area is “cleaned” with an 00 brush dipped in white spirit. Had a go at applying chalk markings using pen and white ink - with a bit of practice first. I concede the “handwriting” is the “same” but that’s 30+ years of engineering drawing to fight against. Cheers Darius
  19. I obtained these RTR from eBay and they have been knocking around the storage cupboard for a few years. The bogies were fitted with 10mm diameter wheels, which looked odd, so I replaced them with 12mm diameters. I replaced the handrails on the TPO coach with thinner brass wire examples and re-touched the paintwork on both coaches. The brake coach interior was painted and pax added. A light weathering of the chassis and bogies completed the operation. There is an “IFM” logo on each chassis - Irish Freight Models perchance? Cheers Darius
  20. Ballasting today… Cheers Darius
  21. Cheers Darius
  22. Some more Parkside CCT kits built. Cheers Darius
  23. Bratchell Models Southern Class 455 EMU. Cheers Darius
  24. Started with these:- Single and double tunnel portals combined. These were cheap portals sourced on eBay and made from some flexible pvc/polyethylene material that was impervious to plastic magic, cyano and butanone (MEK). 5 minute epoxy worked though. I used offcuts from the “removed” wing wall to make the wall joining the two portals. The whole was sprayed with grey primer and then a dilute wash of track colour and black. Cheers Darius
