Dunpaintin. I added undergibbon parts “hewn” from spare MTK white metal DMU undergibbon parts - suitably cleaned up before fixing. Cheers Darius

Dapol coach chassis modified to accept a Hornby DMU motor bogie and trailing bogie. Test fit of coach body to chassis. I still have to fit the chassis undergibbons. Cheers Darius

That last photo is fantastic as it shows the bogies to be more like early BR DMU bogies rather than the LMS/NCC type bogies of the earlier MPDs. Thanks for posting it. Cheers Darius

Yes indeed. I commissioned the sides and ends from Allen a year or so ago. They are now available on his website. Roof attached and cab/roof edges filled and sanded round. Door hinges and handles attached. The gangways are temporarily attached using black tack. Cheers Darius

Holes cut in coach bodyside to enable flush glazing of new sides. Sides glued to coach body. Etched cab ends laminated to 1mm thick plasticard. Coach ends “thickened” at the roof joint to enable a rounded roof profile to be sanded. Sides and cab ends in place. Cheers Darius

Question. It’s hard to find clear photos of the bogies of MPDs 63-65. Were they like first generation BR DMUs or similar to the earlier MPDs? Cheers Darius

It’s MPD time!!! Construction commenced using a Dapol 60’ LMS coach as the base model. The, interior, glazing, wheels and couplings are discarded. The raised detail on the roof and coach sides is removed and sanded down. The moulded coach floor is removed apart from at the ends. Etched sides removed from the fret and offered up to the coach body. The etched sides are longer than a scale 60’ so I trimmed 3mm off each end to make them just shorter than the Dapol coach. This allows the ends to be sanded round. Cheers Darius

HMRS pressfix lining, lettering and numbers applied. I replaced the Hornby bogies with Bachmann LMS bogies. Cheers Darius

Painting completed. Original Hornby bogies temporarily re-fitted. Looks like it is sitting too high on the bogies - replacement Bachmann LMS bogies will be fitted. Cheers Darius

I haven’t done any cleaning up yet - what you see is as supplied. There are some blemishes that need to be sanded down or filled and there are moulding lines on the roof to cab junction that need to be lightly sanded. Fortunately the CMAC resin is not too hard and is easily sanded smooth. Cheers Darius

Received today - CMAC Models OO gauge 3D printed bodies, undergibbons and bogies for the NIR Class 450 DMU. I have applied a coat of grey primer to make the details more visible and cut down the bogie mounting bosses as the bodies sat too high on the bogies as supplied. Cheers Darius
