  1. Thanks Guys for the replies. I should have been more specific, looking for a Container lorry 80' -90's vintage. I did not know there were kits to build trailers and it looks the part alright but I was hoping there would be something off the shelf to suit this period -really surprised there's not.
  2. Thanks but it is a container lorry I'm after.
  3. Lorries for 40' & 45' Containers - any suggestions please?
  4. A lot of work done since the last update but it does not look it. I painted the concrete areas with Woodcraft concrete paint but it looks very light to me, still thinking what to do with it. The Woodcraft Tarmac colour is excellent. I filled in all the spaces between the tracks with spare bits of plywood, it's like making your own jigsaw. Starting to ballast the tracks, I spray alcohol onto the ballast before applying the PVA + water mix and can only do a bit at a time because of the fumes. The centre area is very fine ballast put down on top of a spread of PVA mix. Finishing off kits for a Fuelling Point, Oil Tanks and the Container Crane.
  5. Tidy job.
  6. Coming together well Tom.
  7. Rare indeed to see coloured pictures of GNR coaches, nice find.
  8. Excellent video both of A39 and the layout. Plenty to hold the viewers attention, I'm sure it must have been a great evening.
  9. Thank Railer for your detailed reply, mystery solved.
  10. Love that Enterprise Set, especially the Grill Bar coach roof detail
  11. Over the past years while passing York Road Depot I noticed movements of the De Dietrich Coaches were carried out with a Flat Wagon between the Loco and the Coach. Now a Gatwick Coach is used for this purpose. My question is what is the need for a Wagon/Coach to be used as a barrier between the Loco and the De Dietrich Coaches?
  12. Well done Bart, that finish looks really good. I can share with you the joys of getting the filler down right before it hardens. Looking forward to seeing progress on this part of your excellent layout.
  13. Looking forward to seeing the video of both A39 and your layout Noel.
  14. After all your detailed planning I'm sure it is a great feeling to have some track down and training running. As regard to 'concreting' check out You Tube, and Woodcraft Scenic also do a video. If you have any queries please PM me and I'll help if I can.
  15. The detail is breath taking.
  16. Dave what about listing the limited amount of Hornby 'Irish' models, I'm sure you have them all?
  17. I used wood strips and Woodcraft paving tape but I doubled it up to get the right height.
  18. Superb Model Ivor, and shows in the fine detail on each car. You must be very pleased with the end result. Is there any chance of a video of it in action?
  19. Time captured in a picture! Andy I think you should open some more of those 'boxes'.
  20. Finished laying the 'concreted' areas and roadway. Went back over areas already done and filled in any imperfections with a 'runny' mix. After it has sufficiently dried it will be time to sand the surface and paint it. Then the big test - will the trains run alright on the concreted lines?
  21. Have a look at the RM Web -Irish Railway Group. Colm Flanagan is building a layout involving Scotland and N. Ireland "The Stranraer Coleraine and Donaghadee Railway" which allows him to use BR as well as local Stock.
  22. Looking forward to seeing your Timber Wagons develop, keep the pictures coming please.
  23. Cut the length of finescale track down the centre and positioned it on the baseboard. I need to get the tracks to stay straight which is not so easy when you only have a single track. Container flat and lorry used to get the clearances right. Used glue to stick the track down and improvised some gauges to keep the track parallel to each other. Once dry I'll pin some of the sleepers to the baseboard to prevent any movement when the 'concrete' is applied.
  24. Thanks Warbonnet & Mayner. John defiantly not Hi Tec anyway.
  25. Started on 'concrete' laying, well using Smooth-It . Like everything new using something for the first time is a learning experience. Sub floor looks a bit ropy. Once it started to dry I ran the plastic leveller alongside the inside rails. This was after two coats of Smooth-It. Today I completed the preparations for the road and the container yard area. Finished off the Loco Shed area and the road to the Container Yard. Completed the Container Crane build and now have to install rails for it to run on. I have a length of Fine Scale rail which will fit the Container Crane wheels better then 00 rail. Thinking of cutting it down the centre and placing a rail along with half sleepers on each side of the Crane before 'concreting' it in. Not sure how it will work out but will have a go over the weekend.
