  1. No stopping you Kevin. Great stuff! When you say "the sticky label method for windows", do you literally cut shapes from labels and stick them on. If so how do you manage the "lead" Xs as glass? In other words, what do you stick the window frames/labels to?
  2. Thanks George. Should have engaged my brain before asking the question.........
  3. CNY? What is that then? I probably should know..........
  4. Ok, so that means you will be working on this pastime about 357 days of each year?
  5. Medicine cabinet...............
  6. I made a new template for the "stonework" at the front faces of the platforms. Made from two old loyalty cards. Took just over six hours work to complete- I thought ballasting was tedious (it is), but this thing nearly drove me back to the home for the bewildered. Will be worth the effort though, as I will be able to use it for stone walls etc. as well. This one has smaller stones than the one I made for the tunnels and bridges and measures 82mmx13mm. I have two 800mm strips of walling done.
  7. To a film and a nice meal afterwards..............
  8. Sorry Patrick, all Quality Street are wrapped in paper now
  9. Nice work on the baseboards. Is that 18mm birch ply on there? Not cheap..... But excellent as far as stability and "flatness" goes. Looks like it will be spectacular- best of luck with it. And you have all that ballasting to look forward to
  10. Hi Diarmuid, I'm confused . (what's new, says you). Is this the same layout from your other, more recent thread, "looking for collaboration etc..."? Just wondering.....
  11. isgrace Real shame to hear it went to fill foundations. All we have left of this carry on is the great photos that forward thinking people took.
  12. Kevin, following on from what we were saying about old archictecture being replaced instead of preserved, it brought to mind a job I was involved with last year on the clock tower of St. Josephs Hospital on Mulgrave street in Limerick. I had the job of replicating the old facades which were crumbling. It made a very nice change from the daily humdrum of standard joinery. These photos show before and after in the workshop and the new work in place on the tower. Had to make one for each face. We also replaced the louvres on the corners, but not quite as enjoyable. The elliptical sections are 5 foot by 3 foot although they look a lot smaller on the tower. Sorry for hijacking your thread, but I thought you would like to see this.
  13. Yeah, the bubbles are the business ok. Thought I would never get any. Was on the hunt for them for a while before I struck lucky. I held out for the ivories rather than the grey. Everyone to their own..... It sure is Noel. It makes the tedious jobs worth it
  14. The layout is looking as good as it has done since the destruction of mid September so I thought I would play trains for a change VID_20240127_175236.mp4 VID_20240127_175454.mp4
  15. Love the ground cover around the signal cabin, the way you have the "worn" pathway through to the steps. Will definitely be trying something like that. Was gonna go with gravel or the like, but that looks miles better. I not one bit ashamed of ripping off ideas, oh no
  16. Really "constructive " replies on here now- not!
  17. It's just that the email said March, AND @MOGUL mentioned Paddys day. Hope he didn't mean Paddy Murphy
  18. Denis, the german site Modellbahnshoppelippe has scrap car packs ready to go. Excellent site recommended to me by @murphaph. Have a look before you do any more damage
  19. So lads, is it mid to late March or May? Just asking.......
  20. home for the bewildered very clever
  21. Thanks Denis. Tunnel looks a lot better now with new facings. Therapeutic?!!!! I could think of a better word for it ha ha
  22. Crazy name for a bridge. Where the hell did you get that? I think that ballast is on upside down. You better take it up and start again. Seriously though, looking excellent.
