  1. Which is it @Jamie Davis?
  2. Dopes! My wife ordered a dress for a wedding online, and the wise lads placed it in a safe place alright. In the blue wheelie bin Without telling anybody where it was
  3. Or daunting?
  4. Well rule one on this part of the forum is that you must provide photos of articles for sale along with prices. That didn't happen obviously. So off to a bad start. @murphaph, we probably won't hear any feedback if it's negative. If someone scores big we will definitely hear about it. To be honest, the list I got didn't seem to contain any mind blowing bargains. Think I would rather deal with "a man we all know".
  5. I have been in touch with him a couple of times, latest being over the weekend. I have decided not to purchase.
  6. Or maybe I should make myself known to this Mark dude (whoever he may be). Seems like lads in the know might get a teeny bit more considerate service. Blow ins like me, not so much. Just saying..........
  7. You sure do have a lot of planes!
  8. Well that was what I would have liked/expected. Oh well, maybe next time
  9. Irish cement wagons are excellent Noel. What's the story with them? Who weathered them?
  10. Agreed. What a beautiful photograph
  11. Mother of Jesus! This layout is out of this world
  12. Excellent Noel. Love the dude leaning against the door frame in the first pic
  13. Thanks for all the replies lads. Maybe it was just me so . TWICE. As I said, I have always given Marks my online orders whenever possible, and visited the Greenogue shop a couple of times when I was up in the big smoke. I will continue to do so, to support Irish businesses. I appreciate the point that "a quick email " isn't always that easy as this causes delays over and back, but if a system was put in place whereby an email could be sent when stock is out and customer is given 24 hours to reply before incomplete order is posted, I think it might help. Or try and keep online stock lists up to date on the website. I would have said nothing if it was only the once, but as I say this is two orders in a row. Very annoying. Anyway, rant over. Thanks again for the replies
  14. 262 views and one solitary reply. Methinks there is a lot of keeping the heads below the parapet here. Hmmmm..............
  15. Grand its enamel so, white spirit or petrol will do the job. Thanks again lads. White spirits did the job. Brush is as good as new again
  16. That's the question the man asked at the beginning of all this after all
  17. Every day is a school day. Final result anyway is that white spirits did the job. Brush is back as good as new. Thanks again for the helpful replies
  18. And you use the same brand of cling film as I do
  19. Defo not acrylic. Will try the other methods- never thought of petrol as a cleaner. All the helpful replies are just what is good about this forum
  20. Thanks for the replies lads. I will try the toothpaste one maybe, or white spirits, as suggested elsewhere on the forum. If all goes to all I will raid the wife's nail varnish remover, as I think it contains acetone.
  21. Thanks for the reply Tony. Unfortunately these paints came with the bus kits and are as blank as blank things. Don't think they are acrylic as I use acrylic all the time and I know they are water based. These came in blank tins without even the colour written on them. Nearly sure they are cellulose based as they have a strong smell. Thanks @Galteemore. I have white spirits, so I will give that a go. I ignored white spirits as I always thought it was "lightweight" when it came to cleaning. I failed to clean BIN primer from brushes on a previous occasion using white spirits and was advised to get meths for the job. Horses for courses I suppose. Thanks again
  22. Lads, I need some advice on how to clean brushes after painting with the paints supplied with Jim Poots bus models. Tried meths as I assumed paint was enamel, but brush is now rock hard. Thinking of using commercial thinners next?
  23. Sorry , only saw your reply now. Thanks for that
  24. Well lads, could someone tell me the best way to clean brushes. I began painting my recently acquired Jim Poots bus models. I used the red and cream paints supplied with kit. I assumed the paint was enamel and that meths would clean the brush . However no such luck. Brush is like a stick now. Maybe I am wrong about the paints being enamel? My next try will be to use commercial thinners, but said I would ask the question before I buy some.. Thanks in advance Derek
  25. Hi lads, just wondering how you are finding dealing with Marks Models online. I ordered some bits and pieces from them about a week and a half ago. (cars, paints, brushes etc..). When the order arrived, there were no brushes enclosed . What was enclosed was a note to say brushes were out of stock, and that I would be refunded for same. (Which I did receive). Would it not have made more sense to send me a quick email, giving me a chance to pick an alternative? They lost sale and I didn't get my full order because they just sent out partial order. This exact thing happened with my last order from them, when they left me short paint. (Again with note and refund).. I emailed them on Wednesday to see what they had to say and got no reply as of now. I know people are going to come on and say that Marks are a relatively small outfit, but how long would it take to send a quick email. I give them my business as much as possible , to help Irish businesses, but I think this was just plain shoddy. Anyway just wondering is this a common carry on, or is it just me? Having said all this, I will continue to place orders with them.
