  1. Began painting the tunnel facings. Put on a light grey (almost white) first to fill the joints between stones. I had originally gone with an almost black colour on this, but decided to go light instead. Put an overall darker grey on next (on one anyway). I will pick out some individual stones next and then finish with a black wash or maybe a very dark grey wash. Hope they turn out ok.
  2. @DJ Dangerous, I appreciate your efforts Dave. My browser is Chrome so I might try Firefox. Thanks. @Brendan8056, My son , who is pretty techy minded played a video on VLC, commenting " if it doesn't run on this it will run on nothing". And it didn't. Sigh....... He makes out the problem could be on Patricks end- however he is uploading. Thanks for the help again lads.
  3. Nope. Gonna have to give up on this thread- too frustrating. Pity cos I love Patrick's stuff
  4. Dave I get a "save audio as" option only. Also @Ironroad when I click on the 3 dots on the right I can download and play video, but I only get about 2 seconds of clear viewing then it greys out . Strange
  5. Nah, nothing doing Dave. Right clicking gives me a range of options to do with the audio only. Seems to be recognising video as a sound file only maybe? I wonder if @patrick uploaded latest videos differently from earlier work? Over to you Patrick.........
  6. Hi Colin, thanks for that. I am running Windows 8 (couldn't be arsed updating as I only really use laptop for forum business) , so it probably not that reason.
  7. Thanks for the reply Dave. I view the forum on a laptop and holding the cursor on the video while holding down the button is doing nothing. Its strange cos I can view older videos, as I said. I will have to get my IT department (my son) on to it. Thanks again
  8. glad you were happy with it. early xmas gift from limerick.
  9. Yes , echo that. To all members and their families, Happy Christmas.
  10. In case I don't get the chance to post tomorrow, merry Christmas to all on here and happy new year.
  11. Yes, breaking locos can be quite expensive. After my long awaited A class arrived, I hurriedly put it on the layout- too hurriedly as it turned out. The wheels were not quite set properly on the track and when it came to the first set of points it leaped over the side of the board and dropped three feet to the hard hard floor below. Made bits of the front end. Cost me two more weeks and 70euro to have it repaired. My next purchase was backing boards . Maybe I should stick to Lego.........
  12. More mahogany. This time by design. These are the two platforms for the layout. I etched the "paving slabs" on a CNC machine. Super machine- can't imagine the hours it has saved. A few lads from the railway arrived to check on the progress........ I left a rebate on the underside of the sections to take DAS "stones". And @jhb171achill will be pleased to note there are no tapered ends this time.
  13. Fantastic building as usual Kevin. Methinks you are addicted to the buildings side of things at this stage. Keep it up. Who needs trains?
  14. You have been busy Denis. That sloping/sweeping road down from the bridge is class
  15. The tunnel facings are coming along. @David Holman has nothing to worry about so far. There is going to be a LOT of filling, sanding and then rinse and repeat. Ah they will look fine when the twenty foot viewing rule is applied (or should that be two feet?) I ran out of DAS just at the critical moment, so I had to resort to shaping a couple pieces of mahogany. Its why God invented paint. Should be ok hopefully.
  16. Looking forward to the bridges in particular. Cant think why. Looking good
  17. Best of luck with this Metrovik. One thing that strikes me immediately is the position of the station/platform. Would it not be better to have track in front so as to allow easier access and not to block the view of trains in the yard/station?. Just my opinion...........
  18. Couldn't agree more David. I was seriously impressed with your tunnel face in Northport Quay, and I am hoping to fashion mine to look something like yours. Hope you don't mind. Imitation is the sincerest form of flattery and all that carry on. Prob wont come up to the standard of yours but no harm in trying.
  19. I I cant view these videos for some reason. Just sound. I had no problem seeing Patrick's previous footage, but not these latest two. Any help?
  20. Yes, I agree. Working as a joiner over the years, I can't believe the things that are replaced instead of preserved. UK way ahead of us on that score.
  21. Thanks for that Barl. Straight from the horses mouth so to speak
