Since dave182 and enniscorthyman asked, I just have this quick image showing what's possible with these overlays of mine, a bit of paint and weshty's decals on a BR MK1 chassis. More to follow over the weekend. Richie.

Lol, I have form with the aul weedspray so! I built a few of them. The first one was a stanier cut and shut, which involved two chassis' married together. Not recommended. Second one was a styrene overlay on a gwr 60' coach, but when finished didn't have the girth, nor the roof profile that that the Irish "wide assed" girls do. Was nearly 4mm too narrow and unconvincing. The last one is being worked on - faithful down to each replacement panel and rusty hinge for a certain member on here. I've just completed the kit for the etched overlay for the MK1 BSK, after making a half dozen of them, but that's for another post. I really need to do a workbench update.....

Loco Ex Bredin Mk2 Coach 5 x 20' tanktainers on triangulated frames 2 x 20' CIE recycled containers on 22' flats 1 x 30' crew van - recycled TPO van - 18' wheelbase. (It's still in the guinness sidings in Heuston) There were loads of variations in the consist, but you're kinda right. The pink colour came from desaturation of the paint due to the chemicals. The Bredin coach was retired and an ex BR MK1 coach took it's place - 3187. Will have running numbers of the Bredin/Laminate and crew van tomorrow.

Top stuff as always Andy. I have to say that the NIR stuff was a mystery up until kirley got me into it, and I'm a little obsessed with the many variations of rolling stock and mad liveries especially from the times when being a gricer with camera round belfast may have attracted suspicion at least!

Paul, on the mark 1's, poke a screwdriver into the opening on the gangway corridor and push in and up. This will pop the roof ajar. Remove and everything else will fall apart easy enough.

One of the better aspects of Dun Laoighre is that it has generally a wealthier population, with a few stay at home mothers and such. Pop young Fiacla (who likes his Thomas the tank engine) in the pram and down for a coffee while it occupies him for a bit. A bit of commercial income without depending on us rivet counters to turn up ad infinitum. Bobby Kerr, I've no doubt, would bite your hand off for a few square feet of coffee selling space in that environment. Worth emailing him for his honest "cost benefit analysis" thoughts on it?

My batting average is at least one window dies out of 4 on a Lima, no matter how delicate I am. I also find that if Limas are like a lady, ya might want to check the 'aul undercarriage first. Careful what you may find beneath!

That tutorial may need some "additional detail" Anto - I followed it a few months ago and bust a heap of windows! Then again I may not have followed it exactly "to the letter" ...ahem...

try cutting them from a printed piece of card tom. along with the "network catering" green things, and suddenly you find a certain passion for the "no pain in the ass signs" of the Supertrain livery!

Methinks that's worth a tutorial in itself, takin the roofs off them Limas?

Not bad for a fellow goin about things the hard way in fairness! Your right though Rebel, taking the roof off is when you discover adrenalin is brown. To remove the roof of the Limas, pop a phase tester/thin screwdriver into the exit door glazing, get in under and gently lift it up slightly. The roof separates slightly at that point, so pop in a stanley knife blade to hold it open at the crack. Move the blade along to the far end of the coach to "pop" any glazing stuck to the sides and leave it at the opposite end to where you inserted the phasetester. Repeat the same on the opposite side of the coach, and you should end up with stanley knife blades popping out all over the shop. As long as one end of the coach has "come free" then you can lift it up and out. It's a tricky operation and expect to lose a few door windows on the way! R.

That's MK2 "Superstandard" Livery so? No branding on the sides and just the electical flash and running number on the ass end?

Have one here, Grahams resprays classic. Looks mad, as much as the real one. It will go blue someday, cos its unique though. Just got to do he artwork for the decal wizard in ennis first :-)

I heard that the finger waving brigade were worried about southern (american made) diesels going north and corrupting northern (spanish made) dmu's and french made german companied enterprise stock, and that any trains running beyond central junction would get a battering by 13 year olds who liked to throw heavy stuff at passenger trains for no reason, and that if a tricolour was applied which none of them would even see, nor recognise at speed, would warrant an upgrade to 15 year old scuts for added bum fluff moustachioed threats. Posssibly read on Waterford Whispers though ....
