If it was converted Suir, it might be in this collection. http://mikemorant.smugmug.com/Trains-Railways-British-Isles/Irish-railways/ Worth a goo, and applicable to this thread title. R.

Down the end, class 1366, is the closest i've found. Possibly part of the cornwall mineral railway due to the size, good for sharp curves, hauling heavy loads, bad for gradients with no front or rear axles. Manning Wardle used to make lots of those odd lads for overseas too. Could even be SA or NZ, but definitely in a quarry. http://www.gwr.org.uk/nopanniers.html R.
  3. So it can pull a rake of non-existant rtr beet wagons silly.
  4. Thanks for posting Andy. What's striking is that the structural design of the main building is almost identical to that of Inchicore's Diesel Shops, even down to the double gantry design. Must be some connection between the two places?
  5. You forgot the bit beforehand "After much battering, unsuccessfully, at the door of P. Murphy for a 121, another fortress was sought to assault." You'll have to up it to at least jaffa cakes before I even consider it. Rich Tea indeed... Richie.
  6. Andy, the Bachmann green can be made up with a tin of Tamiya X-5, a few drops from a blue fountain pen ink cartridge, and a drop of black paint. Perfect match richie.
  7. Good god, there is an eighteen bay engine shed, along with original water tower sitting idle in connolly. And the battery shed beside it. Neither of which are ever going to see active service. Ideal spot for th RPSI.
  8. Apologies about any confusion caused. I can see why it seems like gobbledeegook now...

  10. Bernard shares in time of civil of war has a couple of photos from around the early twenties showing those wagons, one having the number 1525, and another showing MGW GUINNESS 1888 wagon of the same style, albeit with additional central strapping. Fermanaghs Railways shows one with CN stamping either side of the door, and 492 on the lower right side. Another showing 323, 1215, 4091 showing on the rear central panel centrally. Hope that helps. Richie.
  11. Modeltorque and that one are identical. I have remotored two 201s, a few class 50's, and a bunch of other locos. No difference whatsover, and if you like the grumbling of a ringfield and complete inability for a soft start, go for it. Personnally i love the nostalgia factor, but i think others who run locos to a dcc standard will see it as a wasted investment.
  12. Heard a tall tale once about something similar happening around inchicore to pooch kegs of guinness from the liners using grappling hooks from a nearby bridge, and incidents declined dramatically when a rope and arm (minus owner) were discovered hopping along the ballast whilst pulling into it's destination one afternoon.
  13. To stop knackers opening the container doors and making off with contents apparently
  14. The 42'9" flats are very versatile and you should really focus on them. Reason is you can add stuff to them, swap it out, to create different formations without needing hundreds of bases. - Donelli Cranes and loads of other Per Way uses. - Fertiliser Bodies - 40' Containers - Spoil Wagons - Sperry Wagon - Weedspray Bases - Coal Wagons - NIR Ballast Wagons (I kid you not) - Bell Liners - Guinness - Bogie Carriers - Wheelset Cradles - Cable Trains Isn't it kind of moot anyway, since SSM are producing the 42'9" soon, and the 47'6 is probably far off, so you've only one option. Or have you a secret stash you're not tellin uz about? R
  15. Jesus, Mary, Joseph and the little donkey. Really impressive stuff as always david. Love the cracked plastic effect. I've noticed that plastic magic has a similar but harsher effect on acrylics which is interesting but not as effective as your methods above. Is there an award for IRM Highlight of the Year 2013? Richie.
  16. Have a good one Pat, and dont be listening to Wrenn - born on the 6th of the 6th 1966.....
  17. Thanks for all your hard work Bosko!
  18. if you could only see what the drunken elves got upto in my workshop while i was away shem...not even 3e would broadcast it. TPO's, ballast ploughs, the dirty beggars.....
  19. Hubba hubba! Wobbly wires be damned, they look bang on to the prototype!
  20. I got a scarf and some gloves if it helps HF. However, I did get some kits from Glenderg Models to put together with the in laws...
  21. Mornin Davy. I did a job on one of those some years ago, and never finished it cos it looked too big. I did a drawing, and uploaded it here http://www.irishrailwaymodeller.com/showthread.php/2113-Tara-Mines-Wagons?highlight=tara The wagon is a bit big for the prototype, about 8 foot longer, but it looks fine behind the 071, and it's a cheap donor in fairness! Richie
  22. Very tidy work indeed. Are the kegs MIR also or scratchbuilt? The ssm level crossing looks wonderful. Top drawer at stuff. R.
  23. Another year older and wiser eh? So you'll be ditching this "youthful phase" of forin locos then? Have a cracker fran! Richie.
