It's an android problem from what I can make out. On the wife's older android no placeholders or little x's present to indicate a photo. Just fixing her sisters tablet now and it's all good. I think she's on jellybean. Very impressive horse, glad I got to see the photos! Richie.

Same here K.

its kind of an odd thread, because the only man with stones and skill to do rtr is PM, and as dave says, he's not going to do a 121 anytime soon. So it comes down to the production of finished rtr models based on kits. the right idea is that a grouping produce, then announce, and one assumes the stock empties, provided the cost to the user is acceptable. 40 - 45 eu would seem acceptable to me for detailed, finished and decaled and weathered wagons, but theres only about 6 eu profit, and it takes time. So do you do short runs of say 20 wagons, and make it on a first come first serve basis? Or open it up and do it on a pre order basis? To put my cards on the table, i have produced made to order ballast ploughs, 10 ton GSWR, 12 ton GSWR, 20 ton MGWR, and 20 ton CIE goods brake vans in the last 6 months, partnering of sorts with SSM for decals. Drawings are returned to SSM if he wants to do brass kits later. I intend to keep at this in the new year, though on a more public basis. There are other things that i've partnered with several to investigate high end rapid prototyping for the purpose of creating masters for bogie sideframes, metrovick cabs, 22k cabs and coach ends, and the mk4 dvt,and the push pull mk3's. These have been produced in 3d, by myself, and rivet counted by some members here. More on this at the end of january. There are other things coming, mostly pw oddities, for meself and HF, but i'll give notice here. I dont think anything i'm working on is in conflict with anyone else here, hence the honesty. Am I? R.

Been a great year lads, with more than a few laughs, a fair bit of inspiration from the group, a couple of OH WOW moments from the new comers, and some fantastic tidbits from the Aul hands. Roll on 2014. So it leaves me just to wish you all a peaceful, plump, and pleasant christmas with loved ones. To butcher a phrase, from the home of the hastily thrown together card model with baking powder fer snow, don't forget to turn the lights off. Happy Christmas. Richie.

Send me up an etch Des, i'll redraw it for ya

We dont have rugrats, so i've never seen the appeal of a little git with james joyce glasses and a twig in his hand. There will be various versions of this show on over the christmas period, and after watching this vid, I may just have a peek, just to see this. Drool. R. Mods, please embed this. Not possible on android tablets, ta.

Translated means "I didn't dare hope, the poor fool approaching the stall would question the price i was asking. Put the kettle on,we'll have cup of tea..."

Milk Churns? http://www.springsidemodels.com/id16.htm. Smashing work as always.

for those that miss out on the christmas tree buzz, you can for about 20 eu, get a 6 foot length of 4 inch wide stuff, called a gutter brush. Same idea as the above, dip in pva, add flock. Because it's so fat it can be trimmed to more irish proportions like oaks and beeches without looking like an odd shaped pine tree. Props to richrua for bringing this up - woodies for the gutter brushes btw. Richie

Signal Cabin / Signal Box Photos

I think this is the one you refer to RS? Some other favourites of mine East Wall Junction Box, controlling entry to Connolly and Docklands. Long gone sadly. and Howth Junction, still there but knackered. -
ttc, never ceases to amaze me the arrangement of scenarios that can be achieved, and if nothing is stirring, the complexity of just arranging a release of a station pilot for a replacement. In that spirit of accuracy to real events, perhaps you could get the depot staff to look to make sure the station structures are in compliance with the IE Publication on the procedures of "How to Shtop Bits of Bildins Flyin' Way in Twind"? Definitely Malahide circa 1955. I did read the reasoning for the double stencilling somewhere a few weeks ago, but ya put wan thing in thaul head, another thing falls out, so I might be able to pick it up over the turkey fest.

Davy, I kind of missed your thread through the fog of exams etc. but I'm really heartened to see someone tackling, what must be a daunting task, steam era in Ireland. Your efforts thus far are inspiring, and with the bauld JHB to assist, you can but be going in the right direction. To see so many on the forum of late, like Mike, Dave, Mayner, Horsetan, and others, who know their quartering from their crankpin, of which I don't, is absolutely superb. I've a happy collection of goods stock, but only one kettle to pull it all. Here's hoping for a donation of a broken/in need of love/not worth a shillin steamer from Santa Bracken to encourage me further! Richie.

She's possibly the finest all right, if only for the complexity and uniqueness. Would love to have a crack at it all right, possibly this time next year though! R. -
Most interesting Minister, makes it easier then to recast them. Metallurgy will pick out any inferior materials, then IE can go after the scottish casting firm, possibly carlisle. They might just be out of business though...

Most impressive Sir! Unfortunately I took those in 2004, so lord knows what condition it's in now. Incidentally, is this a quiz or just a general chat?! Richie. -

Tough indeed Shem, 8 of them in 4 days, and two interviews in January, so fingers crossed it all goes well.

There will be a mother and father of a row if they tried pulling that stunt. I had the good fortune last year to work on cast iron buildings in Liverpool, and they are put together like lego. The base is installed, the column sockets into it, and the cap then locks into the top. The current logic would be to fill them with lean mix concrete to solidify the column, but that didn't happen. The columns didn't snap as I thought, they just unlocked from their collars. The parts are lying about in this photo. So there must have been an updraft of some force to unseat the connections. Then I wondered why during the extensive roof renovations last year by Weslin was the platform ignored? http://www.weslin.ie/projects/civil-engineering/kent-station/ Then Horsetan posted, and it's all getting weird! Richie.

Thanks lads, only coming out of the fog of 5 day over indulging!

Bang on Scahalane. The entire complex is recorded on the list of protected structures, and no doubt the decision makers in IE will look to install a modern replacement. Whatever happen's, they'll have to apply for planning permission, and I'll be taking a mighty interest in it. What's more appalling about this is that it highlights quite clearly, Iarnrod Eireann's apparent lack of maintenance and inspection of core infrastructure. Cast Iron does tend to be brittle, but the way they designed and assembled the structure originally should have coped with the wind loading. Richie

I must break my self imposed silence for a moment. The IRM drug is tough to kick. If thats my phone box, then the adjacent shop has only a four foot door! But seriously, i love the idea of five shops/houses for fifteen quid. I may "borrow" it. I would say to the discerning modeller that these models wont suit your layout, etched brass or no! However, if you have a small person with some thomas the tank engine stuff, buy it. Buy it in spades, and put it together with them. Reason I say this is that sometime in the early eighties, someone in Kelloggs asked youngfla's like me to stick 20p to a coupon and post it to some wonderous place in dublin. A week later up to 16 card buildings arrived which survived until the late 90's. They may have been over scale, very tumbribge wells in nature, but i reckon i wouldnt be at this craic without them. So, if this christmas you do only one bit of modelling, give this lady a bit of business and inspire the next generation. You'd be surprised the effect it can have. Back to health and safety legislation..... Richie

just a quick note to say "i'm off grid" till after christmas. Professional exams come first. I'll call you tomorrow Kirley.

How did you do such a wonderful job on the detail, and such a "clockwork orange" on the switch panel!
