  1. Interesting discussion lads. Since the stanchions are cradles, it should be easy enough to produce a fold up etch, one would have thought, that sits on the wagon, ala the prototype. The end ones just have some extra steel and the upright end panel and ladder. I'd imagine they could fit on the SSM 42' or a KFA to suit, until a 62'9" comes along... Weshty?....?...
  2. + 1. Cant come up with words to describe it... wow. Props to mayner for such a great kit. Now that i've gathered my thoughts, what odourless glue would you recommend? Richie
  3. glad to see my ramblings have some sense! very tidy bit of work too. the paint I used was an acrylic, will get you the code in the morning.
  4. superb. do my eyes deceive me but are there characters on stilts in one of the photos? and where did he get the angry dog from - the one about to bite one of the patrons! Would pay in to see that layout.

    MK3 Scrapping

IE put out a tender for refurbishment of 133 MK3 carriages in November 08, so in fairness they did make an effort. The economics mustn't have added up, as the contract was never awarded.

    MK3 Scrapping

It was a negotiated tender so different firms for different locations would be considered the "most economically advantageous".

Some are in immaculate condition, others with graffiti, but not as wrecked looking as the batch Gordon Hawkins took in Dundalk.

Hamill's in Belfast are the scrap merchants so one could assume since it's close to the port tunnel and motorway north they'd scrap them at the North Wall. Just a guess though...
