Have to agree Stevie, the annual is a firm favorite of mine. Some lovely wharf/quay side track ideas they always have, especially in the mega-basement layout designs at the back. Plus the drawings are works of art in their own right. Richie.

Summed up my thoughts exactly kieran. I'm always trying to get a feel for the entire monster this layout is going to be, but Scahalane does such a nice job of teasing us with carefully poised shots! That inclined terrace is just one example. Really want to see whats up the hill. The quality of the modelling thus far suggests if you laid on busses to scahalanes gaff for a looksee, they'd be fully booked. [same for kirley junction too!] R.

Saw it in Asda (Norn Iron) this evening. Can't say I was blown away by it. Seemed like a toy, poorly painted, and considering that its probably the easiest shaped BR to work on given the lack of detail, I'd be worried about detail on forthcoming models. On the upside though, if one is partial to the surgeons saw and cutting up models to make irish prototypes, I can think of no cheaper nor easier way to acquire tenders, smokebox doors, cab details, fireboxes, chimneys and domes for a song, if the models after the third are actually produced. Will pick up a copy tomorrow for a goo.

Try as i might earlier to, shape a piece of an ear bud into a reprasentation of the garda poodle, when i tried to put 2 black dots for eyes it all ran. Looks like a melted snowman with black eyes now. I've already settled on a few characters for next week - - Mr. Brown , from the Department of Stop and Go. Ex- KGB man, 40 a day, cromby coat. - Tuail O'Toole and Feisty O'Curamach from the HSA. - Mr and Mr Anderson from the RSC. and a few token junkies havin a row on the sidelines.I hope to use all of these for my little north wall quay layout/diorama "Arthur's Quay" later this year. Jaysus, that's a cracker Eoin. It's now developed into a serious Elf 'n Safety Crisis, with extraction vehicles, plant, the Guards, you name it. Will have a photo later for the craic. Cheers George. I couldn't think of a way to make the cylinders in the tubes be like the real thing, the paint would only chip off as you moved it, so I use various thicknesses of solder to get the look. Operate slowly!

Ha ha George, at least mine is in 4mm- I don't envy you and your n-gauge compatriots one bit! Just a quick update on a slightly odd piece of rolling stock I posted a photo of some time ago. I was rooting through a box on Saturday evening while the Voice Factor thing was on and found a severely twisted and bent MIR 42' flat chassis. The only way I could straighten it was to laminate several sheets of thin styrene on by superglueing them and holding it to shape til it went off. Wondering what to do with it, since it no longer resembled a 42' flat, I thought of this fella... Cobbled together a crane and some steel parts for the main deck, and though she looks like Mayner will give her the big white X, I think she'd look interesting parked on a layout siding. More later hopefully.... Richie.

Interesting discussion lads. Since the stanchions are cradles, it should be easy enough to produce a fold up etch, one would have thought, that sits on the wagon, ala the prototype. The end ones just have some extra steel and the upright end panel and ladder. I'd imagine they could fit on the SSM 42' or a KFA to suit, until a 62'9" comes along... Weshty?....?...
