  2. Yeah, should be fine as long as the XP code on the sticker on the underside of the laptop is for XP home ed.
  3. Thanks a mil for putting that up Ant, your timing couldn't be better! You might have captured the end of an era there, the last of the orange. R.
  4. You could start it in safe mode without main services running and spend a day fixing the registry and loading spybot s&d and running scans etc. Probably best to follow bosko's advice for a peaceful day.
  5. Oh to get away with a replica MkIII Standard type jacks in my house, bliss. Wouldn't have to finish the bloody tiling then. I'd imagine its easy enough to plumb in a "poo blocker" function, along with no trap or waste to keep the pee smell lingering, and perhaps a low profile heating system to make it all warm and thoroughly uncomfortable, all for the sake of authenticity. If the whole lot was on a gimballed floor so it could rock back and forth....... NIR, Is the brake lever the flush? Would have thought the throttle more appropriate? R.
  6. Welcome to the forum lads, a fine project ye have underway, looking forward to seeing it develop, and if you need anything, just shout. (Wrenn is a great man to hold the far end of a measuring tape.) R.
  7. Yeah, would be happy to take a day off for a spin up wesht. Flashks of tay, hang sangiches, laser rangefinder and camera! W00t! R.
  8. Both four wheelers were special, possibly a pre-tender test for the main container. SRS 241 and SRS 242. Custom Chassis, something to do with a doodlebug. All here http://irishrailwaymodeller.com/showthread.php/767-The-Sperry-Train Richie.
  9. I'm a bit sceptical about this JH. Bachmann proport that the livery in question is thus. Photos I've seen on and offline suggest that a single band is present up top and a narrower band below. There appears to be two very thin lines of black on the bottom band. But it's not universal. Lastly, there is the most "accurate" of all sources. Hollywood. What's the story JHB? Have I lost the plot or should I forget it all, and move on to the apple green livery? Even though the coaches look sweet in that livery. Confused in green and mint, richie.
  10. Did I say "goons"? I meant "Gents" of course. Damned predictive typing... Sincere apologies, no offence intended. Richie.
  11. Vincent, i think hunslet 102c makes a great point - no pun intended.. It might add a bit more operational fun to what you have. Also, I think you might need to update your plan to reflect the size of the crane though. It's 352mm wide. And will need rails on either side to move on. R .

Hold up! That flyer is strictly a take off of Victorian Posters and is in need of tweaking. Very little imagery and plenty moustaches - that's the style i want to emulate which may only be suitable for a larger scale poster - at shows etc. I already said that there is going to be one with pictures only. They're almost done too. And there are so many publish worthy photos on the site, it's very hard to sum up on an a5 sheet. I've done two colour flyers, one focussing on workbench and producing models, the other focussing on layouts, scenics and the bigger picture. I've been through every thread on both layouts and workbench ('cept my own) and there is some phenomenal and stunning work on these boards, though some crackin work let down by fuzzy photos. I'd have triple the photos to use if it wasn't the case. I know i'm not going to please everyone with any design, but if ye think i'm going to do the type of flyer normally associated with a curry house or charity shop, which would undersell the calibre of this astonishing resource, then irish rail must be currently regauging to 7 ft! Anyhoo, i've yet to chat with Captain Bosko, who runs this show, and get his take on this. Can we park this for a few days until i've talked to him? Richie.
  13. I read about this a few days ago on avherald.com and i believe that the consensus is that there was a significant shift in the centre of gravity which caused the extreme nose up angle, subsequent stall and rolling yaw. The fact that the gear is still down shows that positive flight has not been established, the poor buggers knew something was badly wrong. It's a shocking piece of video, and my heart goes out to the 7 families involved. RIP http://www.avherald.com/h?article=46183bb4&opt=0 Richie.

This one works for black and white as well as colour. I would like to do another one with just images no text, but that's for tomorrow. Lemme know what ye think, have I left out any critical aspects to this madhouse which should be included. I also need the Header and strapline beneath, so put the thinking caps on. Regards, Richie.
  15. Top stuff, will translate that to a drawing tomorrow! Many thanks! Richie.

Yeah, gonna make a start on it now. Colour or Black & White? R.
  17. Not finished Wiggy - still a ton of work to do on them. What era were you wanting (their split into categories) R.

@ Wrenn - I was thinking of showing the photo of your super modren wiring, the one with all the transistors and bakelite gear, with the tag "helpful and friendly advice" A6 size is tiny Bosko. A5 is the standard - fold an a4 in half.
  19. Bargain spotted Gents. http://www.ebay.ie/itm/350783530034?ru=http%3A%2F%2Fwww.ebay.ie%2Fsch%2Fi.html%3F_from%3DR40%26_sacat%3D0%26_nkw%3D350783530034%26_rdc%3D1#ht_1434wt_1186

I'd be happy to do the artwork for a leaflet, if I can use photos from the site? What size we thinking? A5 or larger?
  21. Shale Wagons: I made up this "profile" of the shale wagons from a video I took coming outta Limerick. Kid. None of the panels are the same size it would appear, the central ones being slightly wider. Tara Mines: Anto took this photo, and mighty useful it is. The outer spars are beefy, the central ones thinner. But the differences between the two wagons is clear. All I need now is someone to confirm the dimensions, and I'll do a drawing of both. Richie.
  22. Sure about those dimensions? Not saying the measurements below are bang on, but it appears to be taller that it is wide. R.
  23. Welcome aboard Jimbo. I think most can echo your OP about discoveries in attics and the slight thrill this brings to a grown man! I've only one piece of advice I'd like to share if you are looking to fill 6 x 2' - please, please avoid using software to design the layout, it will look like a train set. Grab a notepad, scribble about, work out what's a must (dockside scene, rural terminus, goods loading etc.) and when you've finished the list, go through it and delete the nonsense ones you've left in "for the craic". It's ok, we all do it! Scribble some more on the sketchpad and when you have a rough idea, post it up here, no matter how ropey you may think it is. Based on the feedback you can tweak accordingly and then get using software to lay out the plan. I've said it before, and it warrants repeating - "lay track in haste, repent at leisure". Looking forward to seeing your kitbashing! Richie.
  24. Lovely colour tone on them Tom, the graffiti looks smashing, and i think the weathering is spot on. Fine bloody work! R.
