  1. John you are too modest. That is more fantastic work, a great resource, and a marvelous tutorial for anyone wanting to attempt a foray into the etched brass kit building world. I agree with what's been said a superbly thought out design. Rich,
  2. John that is fantastic work. I love the Bullhead panel and the track bed. The flat bottom rail is beautiful work the soldering is so tidy. I've hit a brick wall trying to source a check gauge for 21mm myself at the moment the scalefour stores seem to not have them in stock. I'm in the same situation myself regarding starting a build. I'm going to have a purpose built railway room built. When it's built is thrown up in the air at the moment. This thread will keep me 100% focused and I can't wait to see more, especially the flat bottom track. Please keep us posted, Rich,
  3. That looks like a good day out. I'll take a trip down there myself next year. Rich,
  4. I was at the game that Chris Hughton scored his only goal for Ireland Fran. A 5-0 win against Turkey. I think Dave O'Leary got on the score sheet that day also. I agree it's great to see some lads that played League of Ireland football doing well. Most Tipperary hurling people would tell you that Shane Long is the one that got away. Rich,
  5. Fran what year did you attend Glasto. Never made it over there myself but it has definitely got to be the holy grail of festivals. I missed it not having taken place this year. Rich,
  6. Now that sounds good Patrick. I really look forward to seeing this progress. I think it adds a nice bit of interest to a layout to give it a bit of personality by basing it on an actual part of the network. It doesn't have to be a brick for brick exact copy of a scene. Due to unforeseen circumstances I couldn't start my own project this year and 2013 looks to be out of the equation also. Luckily though the lads on here are always showing their efforts so it's great food for thought and a nice way to pass a few hours checking it out. I will definitely be looking in on your progress on a regular basis. Rich,
  7. Well Frans post regarding Utd having to shore up at the back was prophetic. Giving the way Norwich set their stall out today they deserved their win. Rich,
  8. Patrick Maureen sounds like a railway modellers dream wife. The choice of geographical location sounds really cool. I am a Waterford man myself and it was a really picturesque part of the network. Eamonn (Enniscorthy Man) is a wealth of information on this part of the railway and would be delighted to offer any advice. I wish you the best of luck with it. Rich,
  9. 162 with the wheel wagons looks like it would make a nice modelling project. The NIR 201 on the Enterprise train looks nice. Rich,
  10. Patrick it looks like a model of a railway and not a model railway, there is a difference and I think it shows better in a smaller layout. Top class, Rich,
  11. That's an extremely kind gesture David. Having seen your products at the show in Raheny the winner will be getting one fantastic piece of wood work. You can see the Carpenter and cabinet maker quality in them. Rich,
  12. I have to say Gareth that is the best sound recording I have heard yet. There is plenty of low end sound which never seems to be as audible in other videos that I have seen or heard. Infact in the video it sounds better than some I have heard at exhibitions. It is swaying me more towards having at least a couple of sound fitted locos myself. Top class, I wish you all the best with it. Rich,
  13. Eamonn our generation is certainly unlucky when you think that we were through this before in the 80's. Things got good for a while and now we're back there again. The positive outlook is the right attitude, fair play to you. Rich,
  14. The sample looks great Arran. They are out of my modelling era but to hell with it, I'll have to pick up some and a few 20 foots also for sentimentality. Rich,
  15. I'm sure it will be a hit George. It was nice seeing you last week. I'll pop in again the next time I'm down. Rich,
  16. Looks very ominous Pat. Dark days ahead. Rich,
  17. Sweet work Richie all the research pays off when that is the end result. You use the brain Richie and you use it to great effect. Rich,
  18. Good find Stephen. One of the better sound recordings I've heard. What a fine layout it is too very urban, and some lovely buildings. Rich,
  19. It's looking sweet Stephen. I like the Bell container in one of the pics and the calender looks lovely on the wall. Revell SM 332 is a nice Day Glow color. Try the various brands that have been mentioned and see what you like best. I'm enjoying this thread immensely. Rich,
  20. Thanks Brian, I appreciate that. I'll have to invest in one. Rich,
  21. As Des has said they would need some surgery to replicate the Irish wagons. If I remember the same wagons as ours ran in the UK. Who knows maybe one of the manufacturers of UK models may do a run in the future. Pat is right LS models are very expensive. Rich,
  22. Anyone know what year the reg would be on that particular model Ford van. Rich,
  23. A prophetic speech if there ever was one Jim. Rich,
  24. Cheers Eamonn and thanks for the very kind offer for a cuppa. If I have time I'll give you a bell in advance. Rich,
