  1. Fran should the grab rails be on the door arches as opposed to the doors as portrayed on the model. It looks to sit low on it's bogies like the prototype did so that's a plus point. Being a Heljan loco I would say it runs smoothly and quietly. The wheel flanges look very fine, almost P4 like. Rich,
  2. Dave they are actually a mid to dark grey and would only have been applied to the first class coaches. The EGV may look like it has a black roof but it's dirt and a trick of the light. Here's a pic of a first in Waterford in 2002 with a grey roof. Rich,
  3. I was surprised at the humidity in Clonmel today. Living next to the coast always brings a pleasant breeze to cool down. Rich,
  4. I could be wrong Vincent, but didn't Marklin produce a Sybic in H0 some years ago. Rich,
  5. I hope you enjoy it Pat. Rich,
  6. Just back from Clonmel myself. I needed to take some shots of the road bridge at the Limerick end of the station before demolition begins. They have also moved the 2 platform signals about 4 or 5 meters inward from the bridge. There was one guy twisting steel on the new bridge and four others looking at him doing it, and complaining about the heat. Rich,

Please do Eamonn. I know the Limerick-Limerick Junction service was a 3 car set with a 121. I have seen 5 and 6 car sets on Dublin Suburban and Inter City routes. George posted some pics of a 5 car set on the Waterford - Limerick line on the other board, and it has inspired me to build a set for the layout. I always had a fondness for the MK111 push pull sets and any pics of any formations would be great. Rich,
  9. It's a bit of a catch 22 situation, Chelsea will feel that as holders they have a right to defend their title. Spurs I am sure will feel aggrieved that having finished fourth they have a right at least to begin in the preliminary play off stages of the Champions League. The Champions League is exactly that, a league. Current European and World champions have to qualify to defend their titles in international tournaments now as it is a tournament as opposed to a league. I have to say that under the current UEFA rules Chelsea have more of a right to participate in the 2012-13 Champions League than Spurs. Spurs had a better chance than most to finish in the top three this season and they blew it, because I think Harry Redknapp had his head turned by the English media naming and wanting him to become the new English Coach after Capello resigned. The trial for tax evasion didn't help matters neither. If Roberto Di Matteo doesn't become the next Chelsea full time manager then he will have a right to feel more aggrieved more than anyone at Spurs. Rich,
  10. It's not something you would really know until you see them buffer to buffer Seamus. I often wonder was it designed to be able to make the pipe work and conduit more accessible when in the works. Rich,
  11. If it's going to be from the SSM stable Des it will be worth the wait. Rich,
  12. I had a good look at the Alan Gibson bridge Des and there are a lot of differences. The Lochgorm Kits Scottish Highland Railway footbridge is a lot closer except the lattice work doesn't look right for our type of footbridges. Rich,

I have had an enjoyable time watching his railway related video's Dave. I have seen 5,6,and 3 car push pull sets in my time but never a 4 car set. Cheers for the link Dave, excellent quality and a good find. Rich,
  14. That's a superb model Fran. After the mess that Heljan made of the 86 I thought Dapol might upscale their n model to 00. An all new retooled class 92 would be nice for pulling all those intermodal wagons that are available now. Rich,
  15. Eamonn the 071 sits higher on the chassis than the 141-181, the buffers are the same height but everything else is a few inches higher up. Here is a pic of 088 and 160 cab to cab. Rich,
  16. Glad to hear it. Rich,
  17. Mick is a legend alright Dave, and I would say that you definitely have the moves like Jagger. Rich,
  18. I whole heartedly agree with you about Nirvana John. I think Moby summed their sound up when he compared it to being like a building falling down, it grabbed your complete and utter attention. Come as you are is one of my all time favorite songs. I've even seen an Elvis impersonater doing a fine rendition of it. One of my biggest regrets is that I never got the chance to see Lizzy live. I really like the Stones myself, Gimmie Shelter what a tune. Rich,
  19. That's sounds cool Pat. How did you get on playing, bought and sold, and shin kicker. Rich,
  20. I'm with you guys on this. The baby's definitely set the bar, as did the Cravens. The 201 is a cracking model but it fell short of the bar for myself anyway by not having flush glazed windscreens and I think that it would have been nice to have had see through bodyside grilles in the same manner as the grille on the electrical end of the roof. The 071 looks like it could raise the bar again and that's what we want to see as punters and modellers. Rich.
  21. I hope it wasn't anything too serious mate and that everything is ok. Rich,
  22. It's hard to belive Eamonn that he passed 32 years ago today, I have Permanent on the stereo as I am typing. You cry out in your sleep All my feelings exposed And there's a taste in my mouth As desperation takes hold How could something so good Just not function no more But love, love will tear us apart again RIP Ian Curtis, genius and tortured soul.
  23. Anto you need to put the feet up and take a break for an hour or two mate. I'm getting tired just reading all your replies, what must it have been like composing and typing them. You have given some seriously fair and unbiased advice regarding the more specialist DCC systems available. I think if you are living close to another member (or members) that are using DCC a look at their systems might be a good opportunity to have a play and see what system you like. I went for the NCE Power Cab myself and I set up a little shunting plank a few years ago to get used to the system and I love it. Although it might not be an important issue for some prospective buyers the wheel for controlling the speed just felt right to me when I first had a demo of the unit. Rich,
  24. Good decision Jim:tumbsup:. Rich,
  25. You're right in the zone now Stephen. The rate at which you are progressing is phenomenal. I have decided on using Cobalt motors myself for the signals and points. I love the slow movement of the blades that the Cobalt and Tortoise motors deliver and it also looks more prototypical. I have used Seep point motors in the past and always found them to be reliable in operation and they do a great job. The fact that I am building my own track and I will be operating signals and points with DCC has been a big factor in choosing which motors I will use. Rich,
