The new auto shuttle section in operation at Enniskillen. The children, ( and some adults too) enjoyed the occasional appearance of a certain little blue engine with two coaches in tow. PS, apologies for blurry image in first pic.

Yes, have to agree. a very enjoyable day. Nice to meet up with some fellow modellers from around the country. Eoin, I have considered chipping my 141's and 071's and running on 'Campbell Riverside'. The point and signal servo's were very good. Must say I liked the realistic 'bounce' on the semaphore signal. Regards John

Looking forward to it.

Hi all, Here are some pics of the work in progress to the mods on Campbell Riverside, showing the work in progress. Since these pics were taken, all track has now been re-laid and the Gaugemaster auto shuttle been installed and tested. I have a little bit more work to do on the scenic side for 'view blocking' when the train's disappear through the back scene. Hope to be at Enniskillen on 19th Sept with Campbell Riverside. I hope to put some more pics of the completed work up in due course. Regards John

I have started to make a few alterations to Campbell Riverside, The dummy single high level track has been lifted up and is in the process of being re-laid with an extension into the fiddle yard and also behind the back scene. This will then be operated by an auto shuttle module ( from Gaugemaster) and so that a loco will shuttle back and forth in addition to the shunting moves on the main layout. Also it will ensure that something is always running at exhibitions if I m on a break. Will try and post some pics soon of progress.

Hi, I spoke to Chris from Midlands Model railway club at Wexford Easter show and they are not having an exhibition this year. Enniskillen exhibition is 19th Sept. Hope this helps.

Description says ' Condition: New: A brand-new, unused, unopened and undamaged item. Photo shows item out of box, so how is that 'unopened'?

Hi all. If you are interested, Campbell Riverside is in the June 2015 issue of Continental Modeller. Regards John

Thanks for your kind comments George. I'm looking into making a few minor improvements for future shows. One that I want to work on soon is to extend the current dummy single high level line into the fiddle yard and behind the main back scene, then using an auto shuttle system will have a railcar or loco and caboose running back and forth. This will then ensure that something is always running if I'm on a break or talking to any viewers.

Great pics Broithe, good to see Dewsbury Midland still going. I first saw that layout at Ally Pally about 10 years ago.

One area of improvement that I feel is needed on Campbell Riverside is some form of lighting pelmet. As I have seen mentioned in other forums, exhibition halls vary in the lighting available and also where you are located with your layout makes a big difference. Another plan I have in mind is to possibly make the single track high level road extend into the fiddle yard and through the back scène to the back of the layout, the idea being to have a loco or short train shuttling back and forth using a time delay. This would ensure that there is always something running on the layout, irrespective of any operation on the main scene.

Hi all, Here are a few pics of my Campbell Riverside layout at the Portlaoise last September (14th). The following weekend 20th September I took it to the Erne model railway clubs exhibition in Enniskillen. Apologies if I have already posted some of these pics. Regards

Hi Westport. 7)A CDU is recommended/essential? That depends on what power source you are using. I am using an old laptop power supply for my point motors (Seep) and that has plenty of power. If you use the tapping's from a conventional controller then a CDU may be advisable. 8)Electrofrog points are the way to go with DCC. Again, using a PM1 motor, can this be wired up to power the frog and look after polarity? Any thoughts or comments on any of the above would be welcome. I use SEEP PM1 on my layout and I have modified my peco points so that the seep powers the frog polarity depending on route set. Regards

Hi, Welcome to the world of railway modelling. In the first instance I would recommend that you have a look at a few model railway magazines first for some inspiration, Railway Modeller, Hornby Magazine, Model Rail and British Railway Modelling (BRM) are all quite good. Also some track plan books may be of use ( I have some if you are interested). Also you have come to the right place here, as there are a lot of modellers who can help and advice you.
