  1. An post prices were reasonable at one time, but as you say the registered postage is very expensive these days. Sometimes I now use GLS/Parcel Force as depending on what you are sending it can work out a bit cheaper especially if sending larger parcels and the parcel is delivered in three working days, all tracked and signed for too. It would be handy if there was an equivalent of address pal here in Ireland. PS, if its a fault with the loco then Hornby may refund the postage cost to you.
  2. Thought it was €3.75 to collect from post office, or has the price been increased?
  3. Even a servicing facillatiy being built at Longsight (Manchester) for the eurostar sets. Would have been good if the proposals for the north of London Eurostar's took off along with the planned overnight trains, but I think the advent of the low-cost airlines at the time put paid to that.
  4. Hi David, who did you contact re: Glasgow? I have tried to contact them a coupe of times previously via their website but got no replay or acknowledgment from them. Regards, John
  5. Hi all, It has been another great year showing my Campbell Riverside layout. This year it was shown at Wexford, Bangor (Co. Down) & Belfast. I was also going to be at the south Dublin show in October but due to unforeseen circumstances had to pull out. As for 2018 there are currently no bookings for Campbell Riverside, this will hopefully give me time to make a few improvements to the layout. Also I have my 0 gauge layout 'Swanbourne Vale Light Railway' which I have been asked to take to Wexford & Belfast in 2018, http://www.rmweb.co....-2#entry2892358., so I need to do some more work with that before next Easter! Regards, John
  6. Hi Mods/Admin. For some reason I can not access the US/Canadian section of IRM. I get message saying I do not have permission to view this content and error code 1F176/3 Regards, John
  7. I think a similar idea was discussed on RMweb sometime ago, not sure if it ever came to fruition or not. But would be a good idea if something could be introduced for IRM members to wear and possibly to display on their layouts at exhibitions and shows too.
  8. Would you be needing any Peco 0 gauge bullhead flexible track? I have 2 boxes still unused,(each box has 12 yards track). I can bring to Enniskillen on Saturday if interested. Would be looking for £50.00 / €60.00 per box. Regards, John * Now provisionally sold *
  9. Campbell Riverside set up ready for action at Belfast.
  10. Hi Paul, First Bangor MRC won best in show with their Quarry Hill layout. Best overall entry in display competition was Great Victoria Street Station GNR. If your on facebook details are on their FB page. https://www.facebook.com/Ulster-Model-Railway-Club-527971310550421/ Regards. John
  11. Hi Paul, cant remember the guys names but I think they are from the South Dublin Model Railway Club, Here are links to their Facebook and website. https://www.facebook.com/southdublinmodelrailwayclub/ http://www.sdmrc.hobbysites.net/viewpage.php?page_id=1 I think the Mela may have had an effect on the Sunday, as yesterday seemed a lot quieter than Saturday. It was still a great weekend. Hope your plans for Ballymena work out well. Regards. John
  12. Hi Paul, great to meet you at the show and glad that you enjoyed it. Will you be going to Enniskillen on 30th September?

  15. Hi, Just wondering and not sure if its been mentioned already, to avoid the discrepancy with scenery on various modules how about if each module or a couple of modules were built as a diaroma so when set up would not look out of place with other modules. Regards, John
  16. Hi all, I will be at the Ulster MRC show in Belfast on 26th and 27th August with Campbell Riverside. Look forward to seeing you. https://www.facebook.com/Ulster-Model-Railway-Club-527971310550421/ Regards John
  17. Mounting couplings to the body is dependant on the curvature of your layout. I have body mounted Kadee's on some MK 3 coaches which negotiate a 30" radius curve, any tighter then you would get buffer lock (unless using HST MK 3's) MK1 & MK2 stock you could get away with slightly smaller radius, however some stock would foul on the buffers at 24". Not sure how the MM Cravens would work, but some modellers (I have a rake of Bachmann MK1's that I fitted with the Hornby (Roco) close couplings and these seem to work fine, I have run these on 2nd radius curves. May be worth a try with the cravens.
  18. Thanks for that Noel, Regards, John
  19. Does anyone know anywhere in Ireland that sells/stocks the Carr's flux and 145 degree low melt solder. I think there may be problems posting flux from UK (post restrictions on liquids) I normally use the Carrs green flux. Regards John
  20. Hi TDR, Sorry I missed you at the show, I had a very enjoyable two days in Bangor once again. Yes there were a lot of familiar layouts, (mine included as well). All being well I hope to have something different to show for next year, I will start a new thread once I have got my plans finalised. Regards, John
  21. I will be there with my 'Campbell Riverside' layout. Regards, John
  22. I will be attending the first Bangor MRC show with Campbell Riverside on 26th & 27th May. The show boasts a great collection of various model layout and gauges spread across the church buildings. Public transport is in close proximity with Bangor train / bus station situated within a five minute walk from the show. http://firstbangormr....uk/exhibitions
