  1. Looking stunning!!! The pace of work is mind boggling (and guilt inspiring )
  2. The videos look impressive, but ripping up vast sections of laid mainline isnt an option for most people
  3. There's an old thread here about it, now gone to the big layout in the sky http://irishrailwaymodeller.com/showthread.php/232-Ye-Olde-Kids-Layout
  4. Now that looks just gorgeous!! Lovely bright room - stunning benchwork and oooodles of potential!
  5. Interesting alternative to adding weight to the loco!
  6. I've a whitemetal 121, not motorised so she can 'double' with the 141s... Still, you have to make sure she's well tucked behind so you can't see the comparison
  7. I seem to recall Paddy Murphy having a hand in it.. Great 'fun' sets - prototype be damned
  8. Just brilliant What a treat!
  9. We're spoiled with Paddy's work, but with a little attention the old limas scrub up well ! Here's 217 on the old layout.. She'll still have a place on Amiens, tho probably it will be on a 'sound barrier' line than in active service
  10. The nem coupler is a specific design - you need to squeeze the end of the coupler that's sticking out behind the nem socket, the entire coupler then should slide out with next to no force required. You can see from this image, how the coupler fits into the socket, then the two 'prongs' open out to hold it in place. Squeezing the prongs together should release the coupler.
  11. Very nice - did you drill the nem pocket and simply screw in the kadee 20?
  12. To help with lock, you can remove the springs from the buffers, or ensure the 'face' of the kadee is lined up with the buffer when extended. That way you should be clear for lock!
  13. Oh yes http://irishrailwaymodeller.com/showthread.php/770-ROTEM-Livery-Mistake
  14. And by Craven I mean mk2
  15. Sounds like lovely work Riversuir! Any chance of a photo?
  16. nasty! Is such a case, I'd be inclined to super glue the kadee to the underside of the craven nem pocket.
  17. Beautiful. My favourite livery too!
  18. Gorgeous!
  19. The issue isn't really the kadee, but the fact that NEM isn't adhered to 100%. So some manufacturers coupling sockets are higher of lower than others. For the cravens, I got away with bending the kadee slightly, or slipping some thin platiccard under the coupler.
  20. Ah! That makes sense!! Stunning looking models!
  21. Wow, wow wow, that entire scene is just gorgeous!
  22. You are more than welcome to set up a sub forum here if you like. As said above we don't lay claim to everything you upload, won't show you ads or track your posts to show you better add and we store your content in an easy to search fully indexed way ( as well as blogs, gallery's and our growing resource section). From the data, fora for small communities are going from strength to strength. The data from both here and rmweb show growth in the 100's of percent per year.
  23. They 'scrub up well' with a little work, though the underframes are incredibly basic compared to Paddys work. We're just so spoiled these days with so many top-notch RTR diesels!
  24. I guess boxed sets like the one on ebay at the moment are selling purely to collectors. I've probably got 6 'running' Limas, as opposed to the boxed mint ones, which have been weathered, detailed, etc, some even have DCC chips installed on the old Lima motors. they still sound like tractors, but look good
