  1. The plan says they hope to build a new museum building.... where? In the grounds?
  2. That would be handy, and my, you're observant
  3. Dunno where they are getting the 'largest in europe' moniker, at 2500 feet - that includes all the empty space around it... I think Miniatur Wunderland will have a thing to say That said, there is no detail about who will operate it, how it will be run, will it be a new layout? New Stock? Anyone hear anything?>
  4. Cheers lads, 100% of the credit due to the boys at D&M models - both the 2611 and the enterprise rake by them. The rake is probably their finest work yet - lighting, weathering, details - all so bang on it looks like the real thing passing! Even the couplings are bang on and work perfectly with my radii while still looking nearly accurately close coupled. Highly recommended!
  5. Coming on great!! Lovely selection of stock too
  6. http://www.independent.ie/lifestyle/its-full-steam-ahead-for-model-railways-terminus-29929353.html
  7. A quick video of some running with the kids, nothing fancy Just 8208 with the Enterprise and 2611 passing!
  8. Savor is right! A real beauty!!!
  9. Modern RTR use a lot of 'ballast' ie added metal to improve weight and traction. If all that space and weight was modern gel batteries you'd be on a winner.
  10. 9002 leads a late evening enterprise into platform 5 Took a little time to fiddle with the ideal coupling distance and I probably want to relay a curve now just to accommodate this beauty! Video will get done soon!
  11. What a lovely capture of them both. Could be a layout with a nice backdrop!

    Peco Smartswitch

AT £16 per motor, it's slap bang in the right territory for Cobalt / Tortoise, etc... and certainly looks a lot smaller, neater and possibly more versatile....

    Peco Smartswitch

    Very impressive lump of kit
  14. I'll hopefully get the full rake coupled up later for a video!
  15. Not bad I can't wait to see the far side of it.... the real carlow station has a very different 'roadside' facia that that facing the rails...
  16. Wow! That's a static grass Cannon!
  17. Also, bear in mind what you want to run. Steamers with full length trains will have trouble on much more than a 2%, some older models may not even handle that, most modern diesels should manage 2-4% depending on their weight and traction
  18. I've used a few bits of http://woodlandscenics.woodlandscenics.com/show/item/ST1410 on my layout, and they present no issues to anything I've tried. At 2%, it's basically a 1 inch drop or climb in every 2 feet of gradient. To clear 4 inches (about 10cm) will take 16 feet of riser.
  19. A new arrival was spotted blasting past the terminus last night!
  20. I think critical would be a better word than derogatory. Some members were unhappy with the weed spray train last year and, unfortunately, Tom seems to have taken his leave from the site rather than engage in discussion. I got a weeds prayer myself from him and think its excellent, he also produced a full Tara mines rake for me which is stunning.
  21. Very James Bond
  22. A lovely match it must be said http://eiretrains.com/Photo_Gallery/Railway%20Stations%20C/Carlow/IrishRailwayStations.html#Carlow_20100906_001_CC_JA.jpg
  23. Has anyone seen the 'far' side of the carlow building? Is it finished in the same yellow finish, or stone clad like the prototype?
  24. The Auld House
