  5. I will modify my points and let you know. Bit of weight will b added too as suggested. For future purchases, looks like peco are recommended, but there is a bit of a confusing choice there. what's all this insulfrog electro frog stuff ? I am DCc
  6. Great stuff. Lots of work. Youve got the bug now alright !
  7. A few signs on . I have an "ouuld House" elsewhere so I needed something different here.
  8. having a laugh here tonight. I picked up an all in one digitrax decoder with speaker and capacitor for £20 online. (Apparently an older model with old speaker) . Any who, I whacked an 8 pin plug on the end and stuck it into my A Class. After a little while of an a class with a steam sound, the wonderful NCE powercab let me pick a pre installed American diesel sound track. You know, apart from the American horn, it s alright.
  9. as always, thanks lads.
  10. hi folks. My homemade cement bubbles seem to derail a bit too easily. especially on points (hornby type) . I used dapol prestwin kits as a chassis. Any suggestions to help fix ? thanks.
  11. thanks lads. MikeO - you re right about the layout - eventually it could represent anything from 1950 on. Personally I blame Murphy Models. It was much easier to choose an era when you had no locos at all ... now we have every livery I couldnt resist a black and silver. Funnily enough i dont think i personally remember the black and tan . maybe i do not sure. I have lots of memories of the rest. I do like the black and tan livery though, but again I dont want to just run early stuff. So i am decisively indecisive.
  12. Thanks lads. thanks boskonay that is great info. Really liked the noch stuff.
  13. thanks! the darker ballast is Noch gravel. unfortunately i couldnt get my hands on any more so i had to get Dapol ballast from hattons. its ok too but a bit light. Also, to answer a previous question above, the turntable is peco. No motor but i might at some stage !
  14. Yes I would like to confirm that I will go. Particularly interested in recording some sound , not that I know exactly what I am doing !!! I am coming from near Belfast.
  15. Might get an egv myself. Handy enough way to get one , plus I haven't got any at all
  16. ... You know, I suppose it does!!!!
  17. This page explains it very well. http://www.brian-lambert.co.uk/DCC.html
  18. As far as I know, which others may disagree with, you don't need your bus for DCC in a loop or circle to follow the track. According to a bit of reading from various folks, a star type bus is preferred. In fact some advise against a complete loop .
  19. Thanks very much!
  20. The new toy, 073, is tasked to some light shunting of gypsum wagons and cement bubbles for the return up the Kingscourt branch.
  21. It's a long way from playing cards with yer best pals on the train to Galway for the weekend.
  22. Feel like I am getting somewhere. Making another gypsum hopper now.
  23. Very cool indeed. Great feel to that and great stock running too !
