  1. Fair play marks models. It is an absolute delight to still be able to visit yous lads. As an ex dub I remember your shop upstairs in dolier St clearly. In Hawkins St I spent my pocket money and Christmas presents for many years. I have been back several times lately and it is soooooo comforting that some things stay the same. Many thanks.
  2. There's a Bell container on the left of the motorway as you head south. More or less on the border. Not quite a grounded body but...
  3. Interesting points on the cRavens coaches. I would love a few. In fact I would love several Murphy coaches in diff liveries. So far my problem has been that when I have a few quid I would rather buy a Murphy loco. I am not sure why, but I think I have a little fear that some day the locos will be very hard to get and I would rather have a few that will last me! silly I know, but the Murphy locos really are wayyyy above anything and more worth my cash than the coaches. I am happy to spray various things to pull behind them.....
  4. A couple of you were wondering about the Hornby Class 73 chassis. Here it is running nicely on DCC. I still have a little work to do. C Class on class 73 chassis: http://youtu.be/ZXNc9v0UVn8
  5. Thanks for the pic
  6. Yea I saw them on offer so decided to investigate a bit.
  7. Ah thanks for that tip Dave.
  8. Are the dapol CIE like any particular coach or a complete shot in the dark?
  9. I am using lighting circuit wiring stripped out of its grey sheath. You get a blue and a brown which makes life easier. Just checking the details now.
  10. all decaled up and nowhere to go
  11. Thanks lads. Great tip on the felt tip pen Glenderg thanks I will try that tomorrow. I couldnt resist setting it on the chassis for a little test spin. Running ok. Not quite a bachmann or murphy but a fair way smoother than I expected. Runs quite well at low speed but i think keeping the wheels clean will be key as the hornby dcc class 73 chassis im using isnt as heavy as a murphy.
  12. thanks folks. bit more painting done. Little bit of bleeding there but looks ok 'in the flesh' . also the tan is too orange but it dulls down a bit with matt varnish over it. number decals next.
  13. Silver Fox C Class is coming along. The hornby DCC class 73 chassis is running well after a clean. I like the silver fox kits.
  14. there is another bit. It is on display in Cultra.
  15. Runaway Train was on last night. has a few of these in it i think
  16. Brilliant . Really love it. Great atmosphere.
  17. What a great job. Very neat. Looks great. What happened to Model Irish Railways? They came and went while I was absent from the hobby.
  18. sort of surprises me that Murphy hasnt really done any freight. Or am i wrong?
  19. yes a complete bubble. I would buy several. I have always preferred freight. It would make sense to choose this model as they are popular and unique. However, quite a few folks have put a lot of effort into making detail parts for these models . another side to it .

    231

231 has been hanging around York Road a lot lately. Even when it would normally be away pulling an enterprise. It was at the new depot building today (the squashed tin can one) . looked like it had been shoving some coaches about. No pics as unfotunately it is illegal to stop o n the motorway to photo trains.
  21. thanks glenderg. a very interesting post from a very experienced person
  22. yes I think Murphy models would deserve the support. At the end of the day top clsss models. But it seems to involve a lot more cost than i ever realised
  23. ...and in case the loco projects are too difficult to do: Judging on what people like to make here on this site, A crowd funded RTR cement bubble, a Bell freight bogie pocket wagon type; or a bogie timber wagon would all sell well I think.
  24. 121; just because there is not currently any kit or RTR available. I think I would go steam after that. A nice big Meadbh please. (though probably beyond the scope of this endeavour).
